Top wont go down, Orange light wont turn on

The other day i tried to put my top down and it wouldnt go down. Doing some research, other people that had the same problem would still see their orange light turn on and it would be a microswitch problem. I couldnt find anything else on what the problem could be. Can someone please help me? BTW im still pretty new to Z4s and this forum.

Have you checked the shelf in the boot.If it is twisted to the top position instead of the lower position it may not go down I think.I haven't tried that myself though.

yeah the 2 knobs on the left and right, its in the lowest position. what concerns me is that the light next to the button doesnt turn on and for other people it still does

Welcome to the forum,i'm sure someone else on the forum will have some ideas if it isn't the shelf that is the problem.

Check the microswitch assembly. Mine started misbehaving when the silver metal switch plate fell out.

The microswitch is on the back wall of the boot in the middle. It should have a metal plate (very small) that hooks in. When you press the metal plate it should click on the switch
