Top wont go down, Orange light wont turn on

Look right in the middle of the shelf on the bulkhead and you will see a small slot cut out where a peg from the shelf engages. This is what presses on a small metal lever that operates the micro switch. You should be able to see this when the shelf is in the up position. You can use a pen or small screwdriver to press on the lever and you should hear the micro switch click. If you're careful you can hear it as you move the shelf.

The click doesn't prove the switch is ok, but it's a reasonable indicator. The only way to tell for sure is to put a multimeter across the switch and test it properly

ok so i tested fuses 12, 31, and 55 and theyre all working fine, i also checked the microswitch and it seems to be working fine, also with a multimeter. but this is what happens when i press the button for the top to go down, tested with the doors locked, windows up and down, handbreak up and down, pressing on the brake and not. also the shelf is lowered all the way.

no light turns on

I don't suppose you could have a faulty switch.
Wouldn't that be good?

I think that would be my next test.
Good luck.

Please let us know how it goes.

I've recently had this problem and it rectified itself for no reason. Had the car serviced this week with no relevant error codes thrown up :?

Probably just coincidence but it work after I topped my tyres up to pressure and reset the warning light, again I stress the word coincidence

are you talking about my microswitch or the bottons to make the top go up and down

Hi,

Think he means the switch, at least that's the conclusion I came to ..you've no light on at the switch at all, so either power to the switch is gone or it's the switch, you've checked the fuses ..so next is the switch.

To lower the roof manually, pull the red finger pull ring in the boot out about 3/16 inch and rotate 90 degrees, really don't think it will fixit though !

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for 10 mins, reconnecting and then trying again?

I just replaced my battery and my starter, i figured it wasnt going down because my battery died, but when i got my car back the top still wouldnt go down

if the fuses are okay then the fault will be elsewhere. Checking the switch on the console must be simpler than most of the other approaches, low hanging fruit you know.
