Top speed limiter

Apart from on the autobahn, where are you going to find a track with a long enough straight where the rev limiter will ever hold back your car's performance? Removing the limiter is pointless.

+ 3 :D

Agreed, thanks for all the comments, the limiter stays!

Though just to be clear I don't think you were asking about removing the rev limiter (that would indeed be madness) it was the top speed limiter that one might remove.

That's correct. Slip of the fingers.

I had three cracks at top speed on the autobahn last week, got 154, 153 and 155 with a GPS speedo. The actual speedo showed over 160 on all of them (didn't look for long).

You would need a very long track to get up to those speeds. I hit the limiter in 5th on the last attempt. Car gets nudged by the wind very easily at that speed, I don't think I ever thought "I wish I was doing 170!"

What gear were you in? Was it into the wind? Makes a big difference at Vmax.

First two attempts were sixth gear, last was fifth. Wasn't really paying much attention to the wind as I was hardly on a Guinness attempt but the car certainly moved easily at those speeds.

Are you on OEM suspension? Mine was very floaty at the front end at extremely high speeds before I started modifying it.

I had an AA tune back when I was naturally aspirated. I saw 185 on the speedo in 6th, which was probably low 170's in true speed over the ground.
