Yes in a world of sat TV and the internet all BBC shows can be found.
im sure if i went out looking for shows not shown in my country, i could probably find someone taking the p*ss out of the UK. but i don't.
I assume from you comment that you think I went looking for the show. If you read the thread you will find the show was brought to my attention by others angry about Clarksons comments. Also your second point is incorrect. If you did find a show that regularly insulted the entire population of Brittan calling them fat, rude and stupid for no other reason than to do so it would not originate in the states.
if you knew it would offend from friends comments y go looking? and y keep watching new one?

been reading a while, I think a lot of it comes down to the british sense of humor and how seriously we take ourselves which I feel is different from the USA, we dont take things so seriously, as somebody mentioned TopGear did a whole program on the UK car maufacturers and slated them all the way through the program , did we care. no.

Rich Hall an american comedian highlights this quite well I feel from about 8 1/2 mins in.

Lighten up Lou, i think you're taking it far too seriously.............i really do. Remember no one makes you watch it, if you don't like it then don't watch it! BTW have you seen Little Britian in the USA?

Sorry guys but i just have to say this. I think Clarkson and his anti American nonsense is ridiculous. The man is a complete ass and should remain in Brittan. Contrary to the hateful nonsense that he spews at every opportunity all Americans are not stupid, fat and rude. And while America does not make cars that handle it does do something that England can not. It makes cars that last. It makes cars that don't require repairs every ten minutes. And before someone says it's just show business or just a joke, I say rubbish. I recently counted five insulting comments in one show. All directed at Americans. He is a jerk. And sadly he never considers how he colors the opinions of Americans towards British ex-pat living in the states. Speaking for myself I'll watch fifth gear. And Clarkson get fucked.

you mustve seen the recent one where he said to some girl, "your american??? But your not fat!" haha

I love clarkson's opinion. Honestly, he hates just about everything and everyone not just americans, or japanese, or motorcyclists, or M3 owners (now audi owners), people who can spin a wrench, women, politicians, environmentalists, people who've had their teeth whitened etc. etc. The way he puts it too, It's what makes it so funny and unique.

The other option is to watch a program like Car and Driver television in which some boring person tells you the new gear ratios on a Ford pickup (or something else uninteresting that puts you to sleep). Im more of a car guy than most people and I understand stuff like this but it's so awful to listen to, thats what ford.com/specifications is for, not a show you watch as entertainment.

You see, many people watch the show expecting to see factual reporting

That's where you're going wrong.

TG is quite obviously an entertainment programme, NOT a factual programme. The original TG from the 1990s (with Tiff Neddell and Quentin Wilson et al) was factual, but it was also boring as hell (more like the current Fifth Gear format actually). I think it's quite obvious from watching any single episode of TG from the past few years that it's entertainment - in fact, my wife has been a viewer now for the past few years despite having little interest in cars: it's purely for the entertainment (plus she's got no choice when I've got the remote :D).

I have never watched the show but all the episodes of Little Britian are available on line.

 Please don't watch it...............you might have a heart attack!

Hmm, I'm American and have been watching TG for years. I think JC is hilarious, and that includes his bashing of all things America. I just laughed at one of his old show intro's about an hour ago as my DVR picked up an episode where he tested an F150 Pickup. He stated something along the lines of "And I suddenly have the urge to have sex with my sister." I seriously almost fell off the sofa. I think it's funny, but I've never been offended by a joke and don't take this kind of thing seriously. To be honest, I almost agree with some of his statements. There's no hiding that we are an overweight country who loves oversized pickups and suv's for some odd reason. :? But reallly, I love the show and his humor. And if I'm not mistaken, wasn't JC on the waiting list for almost 2 years before he took delivery of his Ford GT? That doesn't sound anti-American. Though they did document it breaking down repeatedly on him.

I've been watching Topgear for years and did begin to get fed up a while back as all they were doing was blowing things up, caravans mainly, don't get me wrong I do enjoy the odd thing being blown up from time to time but there wasn't enough real car stuff for my liking. Recently I'm enjoying the show more because almost every episode you've got the Stig driving something fast around the track, also some of their productions are just amazing to watch. With regards to the presenters it's a strange concoction, almost weird, James May AKA Captain slow, how he is presenting on TV and a car show at that amazes me as he doesn't really come across as a car enthusiast. Richard Hammond has grown on me a little and it's clear he does love cars, the enthusiasm shows. JC, he's a strange one but I have to admit he's entertaining, I love Porsches, have owned one in the past and it annoyed me how he was always knocking them. As somebody posted earlier he was always suggesting that BMW drivers were c%cks and now the award has gone to Audi drivers. At the end of the day it is entertaining and I love some of the challenges they do. I watched the Vietnam one last night and enjoyed it, some of it was pretty childish but the scenery was breath taking, in fact the very last scene where you had those little islands just looked amazing, I need to go there sometime. Oh and JC really hated being on the bike, it showed and made the whole thing more entertaining. Usually I sit there watching in envy as they drive amazing cars around the track. Last night I didn't envy them riding crappy motorbikes in the rain!!!

I love the show. Pure comical entertainment, mixed in with amazing cars, locations and excuses to ragg things around a track or on location.

The mix of 3 different presenters is well thought out and clearly they play their respective roles well.

you guys are right, I would say it's a strange mix but does seem to work as I do enjoy the show, especially the constant ribbing, the main reason I don't envy them on this occasion is that I am not at all interested in bikes, would love to do those roads in a nice car though :driving:
