Top Gear annoying anyone else so far tonight?

Slagging of stereotypes and talking nonsense is becoming boring :? , the three of them are becoming complete "cars"

I still watch it, but , it is more about clarkson et al showing us how much fun they having whilst earning ££££ of tv licence money. How much of the show is actually based around new cars, cars for that matter........ Not a scratch of what we used to watch.

or is it " peaches " :o

Its rubbish but funny ....................imho

Its less about cars each week, more so them and their never ending midlife crisis - i actually prefer 5th gear these days

I've been in an atom and your face feels like it's coming off just like this picture  Funny for about 3 seconds until you get hit by a fly in the face. Helmet went on after that...

I can't stand the show.......but re Clarkson having fun on "licence payers money". If I recall correctly from my days at the Beeb, Top Gear was owned by BBC Worldwide Ltd (The commercial arm of the BBC). The programme is sold all over the globe and makes money. This money is then ploughed back into bbc coffers and funds other programs.

i watch it as its the only thing worth the tv license as everything else on BBC is shi*. As for wasting license fee payers money, the BBC are well on my shi* list with this whole relocation to the north fiasco.

i did the design work for the BBC Mediacity in salford, and i have heard about many things, including the package they are offering to staff of upto £2k per month for 2 years whilst the staff relocate. they also pay for them to have 'familiarisation' visits for them to come up north.

really bugs me.

I still watch it and still like it. I normally find pure car based programmes like 5th Gear boring! Always record them and end up forwarding most of it!

Yes, it was good for a laugh. The lack of cornering ability of the Yugo was impressive.

I think it is great to have a program left on the TV where people actually make statements that we all make behind closed doors or in certain private circles, but we are never allowed to make in public anymore.

Staged, silly and ever more childish, but I do like the show.

Frankly I'd rather watch a Roller and Merc messing around or a never to be produced Volvo hooning around an airfiled than a nice practial show telling me about the latest Focus Vs Astra, fuel economy, load carrying capacity, etc.

TG is childish, FG is not that entertaining. Good to have both around though.

I am finding TG a little dull in places now, but there is generally one epic episode per series that makes it all worth while and moments like the Proton race which was awesome :) . All else aside, it's a proper Sunday evening show.

PVR is spot on. I have grown tired of politically correct %100 non offending speech. Yes! Clarkson pokes fun at us Yanks and our hideous cars. I could get mad at him for it. Trouble is. He 'usually' gets really close to the truth. TG's show is all about Automotive Infotainment. I enjoy it.

Fifth gear is good to. And if FG starts to pull ratings from TG. TG will have to reevaluate and make changes. For now TG is on top and doesn't need to nor shouldn't make sweeping changes.

I think the British are spoiled. :poke: Two good car shows and much complaining. Look at what we have had in America for entertaining auto programs. Zero, Zilch, Nada. I can't make a judgment about TG America as I have never seen it.

Our shows. Motoring or otherwise have one thing in common.
American Chopper: Unrealistic deadlines for a build, followed by much anger and yelling.
American Hot Rod: Unrealistic deadlines for a build, followed by much anger and yelling.
Cake Boss: Unrealistic deadlines for baking a cake, followed by much anger and yelling.
Jersey Shores: Gather a bunch of half wits and watch all the anger and yelling.
Kardashians: Same thing. But with more money.

I may be wrong. But I see a pattern here. If one wants to be annoyed, Just tune in the shows I mentioned.

You folks have some good tv. Enjoy it. It can get worse. Better yet, just throw a brick through the tele then go for a drive.

Cheers
Jerry

I think the producer said it best, a couple of years ago:

"They're just becoming caricatures of themselves..."

I still watch it, if I catch it, but I'm not that bothered if I forget or can't get to a telly. It used to be a must-watch, back when the challenges were real (or if not real, believably scripted).

Like when they got £1500 to buy a Porsche. yeah they had their characters to play (Clarkson the bafoon, May the overly-sensible boring one, Hammond for the housewives) but it felt like they genuinely did pick their cars, go through the tests and televise the fun they had along the way. Now it's more like 3 actors who are a bit bored with what they're doing and can't really be bothered to do it properly anymore :(

Don't mention that, the missus loves it, what absolute shite, a dumbed down version of Paris Hiltons show (if that's possible)

A surprising article from friend of the show, Steve Coogan...
