I have experience of opening the driver's door when my car was upside down. That led to the roof immediately collapsing into the car. I wonder if opening the roof in such circumstances would lead to the doors collapsing? :?Squiddie said:It's not a problem if the car is upside down when you open the roof. Or in Australia.

Well there you go. That genuinely did happen when I lived up in the Pentlands when I had my E88 about 6 years ago. I did refrain from having the top down on that drive but did have the heated seats on![]()

Thankfully not. Just a bit mad sometimes. When I get the urge to do something it's very hard for me to resist.

I'm calling BS on this one! I spent about 25 min using some old plastic sheeting to line the boot in a waterproof manner then tried dropping the top with loads of water on top. The result was... the boot doing a damn good impression of a paddling pool!Visionist said:"In developing the roof’s kinematics, BMW’s engineers also considered the ideal way to drain rainwater from the roof courtesy of a fully integrated water management system for the roof structure. A special drainage system takes up residual drops of water while the roof is moving and allowing any remaining drops to evaporate above the rear-end air vents. This efficiently prevents any formation of moisture in the interior or luggage compartment."
