Are the xenons a really big improvement on standard or are the standard headlights good enough with decent bulbs?

There is a noticeable difference for the better with xenon's, however my previous zed had the standard lights and that was okay, not sure that they are worth a £1k as an optional extra though

The £1k figure is a hit the first owner would have taken when buying new, so just see it as a bonus if you find a car with Xenons as it wont make a lot of difference to the price you pay (but make a lot of difference when driving :D )

According to the price list in front of me, xenons (option 522) came in at just £415, which makes it criminal that more cars didn't come with them. Still why waste your money on something that makes driving your car safer, when you can spend it on frippery like upgraded wheels. :fuelfire:

What i preferred when i was looking my roadster:

Automatic transmission! ( )
Satnav!(when you have once got it, it is VERY hard to buy car without OEM satnav..)
Xenon's (here in finland in winters/fall is REALLY dark.. :(
(bonus: if failing to get the folding roof, then i think the Automatic A/C is something what you car has to have, but i think this is surely reugular. My car has both. will see how much gonna use the auto ac in summertime :D)

That's actually not that bad for Xenon's, Audi wear a mask and hold a flintlock for theirs, really shouldn't all premium cars now come with Xenon's as standard.

As for alloys, they are one of the biggest ripoffs on the options list, just after sat Nav

Agreed, they should definitely all come with xenons, but the fact that people still question their value suggests that not everyone would appreciate them.

Plus there's a poor perceived reputation because of sites like this:

1. Upgraded stereo, basic system is 4 x 25W
2. USB
3. Cruise

Heated seats are nice, but not as important on a coupe, essential on a roadster
Xenons are a great improvement
PDC, is not essential, you soon get used to the bonnet, the rear is easy as you sit almost on the back wheels
Navigation and Bluetooth are good for resale but not a deal breaker.

Good shout on the upgraded stereo. It makes a huge difference

I would say new features over upgrading existing features would be more important to me, so:

1) Heated Seats
2) Bluetooth
3) Cup Holders

That being said i would never get a car without Xenons now (unless xenons are not avail option) the difference is night and day... literally!

I believe the E89 has Xenons as standard though.

still backtracking here folks :) think ive only 90 pages left now :D but this thread i found very interesting .
heated seats seem to be the plum choice of extra ? my last 3 vehicles have all had this feature which i have to say in winter is reason enough to go out of the house :) but as a top choice ? not convinced a luxury that is useful only a quarter of the year should be no1 ?
anyhow here's mine ( which fortunately i have but would still have bought the car without)
1) higher spec seats & include elec/memory
2) xenon,s / much more practical use than a warm 4rse
3) nav/screen/phone prep

& if you like the heated seats the 6 series had heated steering wheel  now that was worth having :D

When I was on my search the 3 most important items for me where:

HAD to be manual, HAD to be an Si Sport

Xenons
Bluetooth
Piano Black Trim

Incidentally the one I found had pretty much everything else as well - ex BMW GB car y'see, see my sig for spec.

The only thing I don't have which I would have like was auto folding mirrors. But as it's not the widest of cars it was no biggy.

What's piano trim? .... Glad to see the car I bought has pretty much all the things you guys have mentioned :). I can say the seats/radio/ xenon /nav are worth it. ESP if you are buying 2nd hand and someone else has taken the hit. I agree with whoever said get the best you can. I would choose a better specd car with higher miles over a lower mileage version ESP if the miles came with decent service history. (so long as its not red oculus)

I have the piano trim and its BEAUTIFUL .... BUT.... its so hard to keep clean lol, my girlfriend picked up something from the
footwell and rested her face on it, i'm still trying to clean off the mark!!!!

I bought my car because it had the 3 things I wanted...

1. xenons <-- 100% must
2. All black interior with black extended heated/electric memory seats
3. bluetooth

That said I'd also feel lost without the steering functions.....

Also domsz4,

Piano black.....

Finally! Thank You! No one else thinks manual trans is important? I need to find another forum!

I live in a remote are, so I really had to pare down my must-haves to find a car less than 500 miles away. Manual was the only must have. Heated seats & sport package were strongly preferred but not deal breakers. Fortunately I found a car at a good price 280 miles away that had pretty high spec, but it still had some objectionable features, so not the perfect car by any means.
