To sell or not to sell, on the fence!

Chaps,
I'm really struggling with this one. Right on the fence as to whether sell up or not.

I've had it for 8 years now and it as seen me through some dark days. I've come from a 911 background and struggled to find something with the character of the older aircoooled cars, with any later pork, other than a 996/7 GT3. Last year I drove lots of stuff from 991.2s, 718S, Evora 410, M4 etc, to see if there was anything else that appealed, but came up short. I just can't get on with the automatic sports cars 90% of people drive these days, EPAS, start stop etc. Fine on a daily though.

Roof down, S54 wailing and overwhelming the rear tyres on a twisty road is still intoxicating to me and right up there with most NA exotics.

So If I'm going to keep a performance car, I would keep the Zed. It would be almost irreplaceable in this condition / spec which has nothing I would change, except a friend has another low mileage example that I would have first refusal on. If it's ever for sale though..

But.. Living in central London and only really driving down south these days, it's all managed motorways, traffic, cameras. It's rare I get to enjoy any spirited driving. I'm pretty close to packing it in and joining a car club / buying a run around. I'll still have my motorcycles to play with and they are much less constrained, with traffic at least.

Decisions!

Any thoughts?

1. Keep the M
2. Get a runaround car
3. Solely use the M for track driving and road trips / eurotrips.

:) You could be right, especially given the lack of depreciation.

Another factor is that I've lost my covered parking for now, so it's out in the elements. Hoping to have that resolves shortly, which would probably mean I'll keep it.

I was also thinking about clearing some space for a Caterham. I'm on the look out for one to re-skin / rebuild as a project. :driving:

If I was in your position, for the fun factor and one of the best soundtracks out their. I would be on the look out for a well kept TVR Griffith 500 - one of the later ones with Power Steering, to avoid the kick back through the steering wheel.

No Driver aids baring the Brake,Clutch, Throttle and Steering Wheel. Have a go, you.ll be hooked.

Thanks. I've driven a 430 Griff, plus a Tamora etc. All great fun, but didn't really do it for me. The Tamora was like a big MX5 though, so easy to drift around, at least on smooth roads.

There's not much at the price-point, particularly roadster prices, that'l give that fun.

I sold mine, would love it back (but not sure it makes sense with what i have and what else i'd like). Driving in the SE just involves spirited morning drives (finish before 9-10am).

You can sell it, but without a replacement you'll quickly get bored and want something to have fun in - and then you'll come up short unless you can up your budget significantly, thus want another Z4M, and it wont be YOUR z4m you buy :D

Thus - keep it, and save up! Also - Z4M(C) is much more fun when it's not your daily. When i had C63 daily i really appreciated the Z4 as a toy a lot more.

Cheers. I actually do have a facelift W204 C63 with an LSD and Eurocharged. That's great and I'll keep that for now. I love interesting engines and that M156 is not something I can think about parting with.

It's the roof down appeal of the zed, with that intoxicating engine that I would miss for sure. Trouble is, it's barely being used. Hmmm.

Sell the ///M. Then make Beedub a decent offer on his beauty.

Pop it in your garage and only use it for track days, where it will embarriss super cars and caterams with equal aplomb, whilst putting a massive smile on your face. :D :driving: 8)

Then run around on the underground, or treat your self to a 3k shed for the weekly stuff.

The only thing I would say is make sure you are absolutely certain before you sell it.

I took a deposit on my 1st E86, had a last drive in it and was looking for my current one a couple of days later.

But finding another good Z4M could be much more of a challenge!

Yep, this post really rings true with me. I've sold way too many cars and bikes that I've regretted. I really do need to be sure that I'm done with the zed before selling it on.

You have a Z4M and a C63? Man, I’m jealous!

It's a great combo - would thoroughly recommend it :D Mine had LSD+PP+ etc too, great car.

:) Great to know. Another friend has also has the same combo, this time a Z4M Roadster and a C63 Coupe. It's hard to beat that combination of practicality and fun :)

Think I just found another covered parking space to rent, in which case the Zed will be staying. Need to check it out.

Thanks chaps.

Thanks for the comments chaps.

That really is great news - no need to have seller's remorse now! Your MC with that mileage is a really special car.
