To sell or not to sell, and for how much? 2006 Z4C

If you do decide to sell just make sure you won't regret it!

I made that mistake. 2 days after my 1st one was driven away I was off to collect my 2nd.

What is it about them that you like?

When it’s gone it’s gone but life will go on you’ll just have a bit more money, personally I’d sell it and if I still want a coupe I get a cheaper higher mileage car that I’m not too precious about, I get so uptight when I have something really nice that I’m scared to use it for fear of damage or vandalism etc ...if you have plenty of money I’d store it as it will continue to gain value no question and just get a cheaper coupe higher mileage if you feel you need a coupe...when I was in hospital just 15 minutes walk from here in Leeds I had a lovely Audi TT Quattro sport, and a lovely ducati 848 but you know what I was just wanting my health back I’d give everything to have my health didn’t care a jot about cars and bikes....easy to say but it’s just a car just live your life as it will soon be over and fretting over a motor is all a bit pointless....easy said from here though.

Bought my '08 Si Sport 2 years ago with 25k and have almost doubled the mileage since but there aren't many sub 50k examples out there. Mine was a fair bit less than the above estimates and has some lovely extras including extended leather, has Kamikaze Ceramic Coat etc and was in absolutely mint condition with the only issue being a failed ABS pump which is a very common issue (since repaired by ECU Testing with lifetime guarantee). I added the CSL Alloys recently as mine also had MV2s. Prices do seem to have risen quite a lot since. Pay the £5 and check Parkers Valuation which will give you current prices allowing for Mileage and any special features.

Parkers for an '06 with 150k miles which is the free estimate... it will obviously be more with your mileage (I've never seen a Coupe for sale at the bottom estimate!)

Man your car's beautiful on CSL wheels!! And that grey colour is so nice; always preferred your grey to the one I have.

What's extended leather btw?

I was first drawn to them by the shape but then the first time I drove one I knew I had to have one! I've always preferred cars with a manual gearbox, RWD and a naturally aspirated engine and the E86 ticked all those boxes - the N52 is such a great engine and I was really impressed with how it kept pulling all the way to the red-line which is quite high for a 6 cylinder engine at 7,000 rpm. Plus I'd never previously owned a car as powerful before. And being sat so low just in front of the rear wheels just made it feel like a sports car.

Then after 5 years of 3.0Si ownership I made the mistake of going to look at a couple of M Coupes and felt similar but cranked up to another level, so when one was advertised at a price I could just about afford a couple of years ago I just had to buy it. :D

Yeah I do love the CSLs on it. The MV2s are really nice too and I appreciate a stock look. Extended Leather is where they basically covered all the plastic in the cockpit in leather so you have leather sun visors, door bolsters etc...you can see it on this pic

I am in denial of the existence of Z4MCs...the temptation is real. I just keep hoping for prices to go even higher so I that I don't ever face the chance of one being within reach.

That's a good strategy to adopt, especially as your 3.0Si is a pretty special example.

Where I went wrong was going to look at one up for sale a mile away from home on behalf of a forum member 150 miles away to check out the service history. But the selling trader just fired it up, took the price out of the windscreen and said he'd see me in a while so I did about 15 miles on my own. I didn't want that particular one, but it set me up to let my heart over-rule my head!

I couldn’t look at yours for too long as it was the exact colour scheme I would want in an M. Putting the Atomic CSLs on mine recently has made me fall even deeper in love with the car so I should be able to discipline myself to keep clear of pistonheads/auto trader et al

Ohh, the leather there looks classy a.f. Really nice. Haven't seen any like that before.
