To buy or not buy? Help!

Yep I will pass on it.
The dealer was saying it's cateogry C because the owner chose not to repair the damage the car through the repairer chosen by the insurance company?
I have no idea whether there is any truth to that.
In short, highly unlikely... although it could be that it became Cat C because the repair cost was higher at a certain garage (possibly a BMW dealer, rather than an indie bodyshop), because that would have increased the ratio between the pre-accident value and the cost of repairs from the Category D to Category C.

The reinsurance implications of buying a Category C are enough to give you nightmares!!

Thanks. I have come across that one, but I'm not really keen on red. White would be my first choice followed by black and blue.

Guys,

Now I'm also considering sdrive30i or sdrive35i, which can be had for just under £20k I think.
Would you take the newer 30i with less mileage (<15000mi) or older 35i with more mileage (around 30000mi)? Which would I lose less money through depreciation?

What differences are there between 30i and 35i other than different engine?
