Nail on the head Bing. My 40s have left be bereft of impulse and rolling the dice of chance. Now I just settle for a nice cup of tea and a certain bet.

Never get old people. Never get old.

Thanks everyone. One of the nicest and friendliest forums.
I'll especially miss Bing's witty posts :D
Who knows, I may even hang around

You better hang around - I'd never heard balalaika music till I 'met' you :D

Did it go to a forum member, and did the traffic cones go with it ?

Where will you now put the Honey Loops?!
Well done on the sale Costa. You'd better stick around

Thanks Ruby.
Honey loops :D, no worries.

The new car has cup holders for those espressos and macchiatos

Nice to see a similar spec car to mine, with a few thousand more miles, up at £20k.

Likewise, but mine has a few thousand more miles. I reckon the CSLs and aeros make up for that though

Anyone else notice this in this months BMWCCGB magazine? Although they've got a photo of a 3.0si, it's nice to see Hexagon bracketing the Z4MC with those other cars.

To be honest, I think it's pretty fecking shoddy that they can't get the picture right....

Indeed - an ad clearly aimed at the classic BMW aficionado market, can't get the Z4 picture correct and completely neglects the M Coupe

Explains why their pricing is so optimistic though - they have no clue !

Not sure if the e92 and M6 coupe count as classics either...

Interesting on the E92 and M6 becoming classics. My thoughts...

For:

- only NA V8 M engine ever in the M3 or BMW M.
- last of line M NA engines. I don't think we've fully come to terms with that fact yet. We will when we have electric/petrol hybrid cars powered by 3-cylinder turbo cars. I'm sure they'll be a hoot to drive but we will reminisce and get misty-eyed at these engines I suspect. They are part of a rich history in BMW M that we will never see again. BMW do not now make an unblown straight six engine for example.
- only V10 M engine ever in M6/M5 but M6 sold in much smaller numbers I believe.
- "unique" styling of M6.
- last M3 coupe (that one's a bit tenuous I admit)!

Against:

- ubiquity in the case of the M3
- marmite styling of the M6
- lack of any real competition heritage in the case of the M6.
- I'm sure there are others but I can't think of them yet!

I'm sure low mileage well maintained examples of these cars will eventually creep back up in value simply because of supply and demand laws. We've seen the same with the E46 M3 I think. The really good ones still fetch strong money. Classics though? It'll be a brave man to put his money on that.

Hexagon getting the wrong picture is ridiculous imo, if I'm going to buy a top-end example I want to buy it from a specialist who lives, breathes and sweats ///M cars, not somebody playing at being the selective middle man.
