Titanium Silver Waxing

Hi,

I've used Autoglym SRP for years to polish my car after washing, but have never really applied further finishes. My previous cars were red, burgundy and blue. Having recently got a Titanium Silver z4 I wasn't entirely satisfied with the end result (wasn't a deep shine and didn't last very long) I started looking around the forums and entered a new world of cleaning products (clay, carnuba waxes, sealants, etc).

So last week when I cleaned the car I decided to do my usual wash/dry/SRP routine, followed by EGP (extra gloss protection) which is a synthetic sealant. I have to admit that so far I have been very happy with the result - seemed to shine better and is lasting very well. However should I look at applying a natural wax as well, or should I just use something like aqua wax when I next give it a clean?

I've heard that it is hard to get a 'deep' finish on the silver, and i've also heard people suggest that synthetic sealants are better on lighter cars? Do people agree with this? Also, whilst I'm happy with the autoglym, is there anything better that people would suggest using?

Clay first and then clean thoroughly before polish. Expensive but a little goes a long way and the finish is superb.

John the AG twins make a great base used them on both my cars but try claying before hand for that glass like finish and top off with Carnuaba Wax then use a QD after every wash for that just waxed look.

Heres my T.Silver 2004 Z4 http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=12175

You can get a great finish on Silver paint a nice glossy look heres a couple of pics first one my Z4 second is my old 93 Calibra all work by hand

Gaza,

You car looks great - I have also started using a water filter for the final rinse after washing. Creates a superb base to wax and the windows gleam after drying.

I'm more than happy with the paintwork/finish on my titanium silver roadster. It's got a few light washing scratches from the previous owner, but thankfully they're not too noticeable and not bad enough to warrant a machine polishing session. My mate let me play with his machine polisher for a bit when he PC'd my van, now I want one...

Anyway, my process was:
- clay all over
- 2 layers (I think) of Chemical Guys M Seal (synthetic sealant)
- initially 1 layer of Chemical Guys XXX carnuba wax but I've since topped this up twice more since (in 8 months)

and it looks good enough for me. I'm a big fan of the CG products. My car does live in a garage when not being driven though so this probably helps durability, but the finish always looks seriously waxed to me (using the water droplet test LOL).

Depth of finish:

Thanks Guys, the feedback is greatly appreciated.

Guess I'm going to have to look for some clay and a decent wax. Hopefully I will find something locally, else I'll have to mail order it. One of the many curses with living on a small rock (Jersey).

GAZA, that car is just way too clean! Love the interior pics and the level of detail you went into cleaning 'under the hood'. Looks like I'm going to have to step up my game! That Calibra looked great as well - unlike most of the examples that you see these days which have been through so many car washes they look like they've been attacked with a sheet of wet & dry!

Thanks mate  the Calibra was my pride and joy for over 9 years winning me two trophies had to be something that i really liked to look at to step up to and the Z4 was a very very worthy replacement
