ANC/R - Active noise cancelling/reduction
I can understand that some of you guys don't know what that is. We're not talking about plugging your ears.
This technology has been used for years in aviation, and just recently starting to become affordable enough to be used in consumer headphones.
It happens that I am a pilot, an activity that usually lasts for longer hours than driving, and where safety is not managed based on opinions. All pilot headsets are ANR ones. Fatigue, which gets induced by high levels of noise, is far more dangerous than a state of relaxation. Fatigue can make you sleepy. Noise cancelling won't.
How noise cancelling or even plugging one's ears could decrease one's focus, on the highway, is beyond my understanding. My point was about driving on the highway, not in a city. On the topic of distraction, I should just quote @sure2drive above
