Time to say goodbye.

Well after 9 years and 48,000 trouble free free miles it's time to move on. :(

I always knew it would be tough selling the Zed but I think now is the time. The good news is that the car is going to another forumite who hopefully will get as much pleasure as I did from the car.

I will still be at the National Meet but probably at the back  . I have a chance of buying my friends M3 vert, those who frequent the National Meet will know the car. Fully specced one owner and never ragged about. If he sells it will be at trade in price which is a bargain for me!

There is a chance he may not sell  in which case I will be after a 35I dct. I will just have one car so will sell my very reliable RX8 as well :)

I love the looks of the e89 and I'm sure will end up with one even if I buy the M3 and keep it for a while. See you at the National Meet

John

A sad day indeed John.....that is one nice M3 vert though. :)

Glad you've not given up on the National John.....I'll be there normal time on the Friday, first beer on me.

All good since having the injectors and a module replaced under warranty last October. Dodged a £2800 bill there.
Warranty definitely worth consideration if you get an E89 at some point as there's potential for big bills.
Glad you're still enjoying the RX8.

And I thought someone would have to prise the keys from your lifeless hands in order to get your Z4 John! I'm sure it's going to a good home, and would be seriously tempted to add it to the fleet if your sale fell through - they are getting a great car with a nice reassuring history - never raced or ragged etc. :driving:

Hopefully will still have some great drives out whatever car you bring, and no doubt catch up soon with you and probably the new owner

p.s. France trip now off given fuel protests so looki forward to hitting the Welsh roads even more now.

Sad news indeed. . .
John in his Imola ///M - up the front setting the pace and quietly but confidently showing us the way has been a mainstay of all the National's Steph and I have attended.
It's always been a thrill and reassuring to have him and that fantastic ///M on a run.
Hope the M3 works out and I've got to say, selfishly, it would be wonderful to see you and Pauline back up the front, in an E89 in the future.
See you at the Nationals.

Sad news john but I think selling as been on the cards for some time now

An E89 should be good for you though

This is a shocker indeed John, got your pm.
Yeah, going to be a strange thing having nobody to share lead duties with if it doesn't get replaced in time for the National.
Looks like I will be doing all the Lead duties this year....I will be more tired than usual, lol :driving:

Always been fun being behind you, trying to keep up,or leading and seeing you in my rearview.....one of the few drivers who has more skill or bottle at driving these great machines to their best :driving:

Sad times indeed. Speak soon

Last year was my first National and I chatted with you when we lost the tail group. Sad you're selling, hope you get the replacement you want - hopefully catch up with you at this years in July :driving:

My very first national 4 years ago I had the pleasure of following John's lead for a time on the slightly quicker  Sunday drive around the Yorkshire dales. Needless to say I had a whale of a time pushing on in my little 2.2 only made better by the sound of the ///M being used the way the engineers intended, though this was tempered ever so slightly by the smell of my brakes at the bottom of The Buttertubs .

Hope you enjoy the next car as much as you have this one :driving:.

Sorry to see you sell John but glad it's going to an excellent home, where it will probably lie gathering dust in a garage, never driven and taken out only on dry Sundays - NOT (poor car won't know what has hit it and be crying out for a rest !)

All the best in the new ride to both seller and buyer !

Always Ben fun being behind you, trying to keep up,or leading and keeping ahead of you.....one of the few drivers who has more skill or bottle at driving these great machines to their best :driving:

 er 1 of the true mad men i would say

Thanks for all the good wishes.

I will know this weekend if I'm getting the M3. I've already seen a lovely 35I that will make a fine alternative. Drawn to a 35s however, as 340 bhp seems a decent number of horses to have in your stable.

The red M has been emptied of my clutter, mot'd and poor BM bear is now homeless but he will have a new home soon enough I hope. :)

Good luck with whatever you get , the 35is sounds good though . At the moment that would be my choice to replace my ///M if that should ever happen . So for me I hope you get the 35is so you can pass on your thoughts between the two

Just been thinking back to the many happy miles covered following that awesome car along some of the finest roads that England and Wales have to offer. I've also been lucky enough to sneak into the passenger seat and actually experience a roadster :o

Do you realise it's 5 years since we first bought that car off you :poke: - it's been a few times since but I was always happier that you were keeping it

It will always be a very special car to me, I always hoped we would eventually end up with it and keep it as a classic. That said I'm really happy with where it's going, I know it will be cherished and there's a good chance we can continue the happy miles following it :D

Hope you manage to prise the M3 out of Paul's hands, but whatever you end up with I look forward to meeting up soon :driving:
