Time to move on maybe.

Would be very interesting to hear what you think of the new M3, have not been in one nor heard anyone's opinion on it.

What gearbox are you testing with?

The opinions I have read on it mostly are that its rapid but lacks a little something in the noise department but with it being a blown engine it is very hard to get them to sound as good as a N/A engine I think, I would like to have a go in the new one though to see what its like as most know I didn't get on with the V8 version very well.

I drove a Fezza 360 with flappy paddles. To be honest, apart from the noise - I prefer my zed.

I am going to book an appt to test drive an M4 this week. Eastern BMW invited me on my last visit, so it would be rude to decline ;)

You are certainly on my wavelength regards gearboxes

You will have to let us all know how you get on with the M4 and agree it would be rude not to have a blast out in one! :driving:

I drove a 360 with flappy paddles round Rockingham's inner circuit - kept going for the teeny reversing lever to change gear

It was an experience, but felt a bit old, even a few years ago. That said, they were track cars...

Good decision Stu, the rain will stop eventually and you'll be glad not have parted with her yet

Just seen this thread Stuart, if you're still looking at 595's then you're more than welcome to have a look at my 595c Turismo (no Sabelts, uncomfortable and no Monza, 4 pipes on a 1.4 is just silly). It gets used on the motorway, but I seem to keep choosing the back roads with it

The M didn't get driven for the first two months of Abarth ownership, lots of fun! The convertible really seems to offend blokes though, especially when you're overtaking them. Like I care.

T H White were very good, ask for Tracy.

I'm over in Lechlade btw :D

I saw an interesting point someone put across with regards to manual versus the paddle debate, and it was something like this:

If the automatic is so much better, so much faster, always the best decision of the right gear at the right time, why do those who have them always defend them by saying that they can drive it in manual mode and they can still be in control with them? If it was perfect, there would be no need to take control.

Bit like the VW advert where all the cars try to be like a Golf :)

Hello Stuart,

I think that it may be time for you to move on, you may well do worse than consider something from the DARK SIDE!! A piece of British Engineering - TVR GRIFFITH 500 (circa.1999), no safety nets but purely an invocative buzz! Smiles per Miles that are worth every penny and do not de-value like some cars. A lot of forum members may well mock me, but how may of them have had the PLEASURE! A TVR GRIFFITH 500 has all the noise you need and does not fall short on the GRUNT. Trust me - old age and a worn out left foot has only let me down.

It will be the DCT box. I know the whole auto vs manual argument and the merits of both, But if I can afford it, this is what it will be.

As to the sound, talking to the service manager who had been moving it around, he liked it very much.

I'd love a Sagaris, I think they are awesome. It's unlikely to happen though.

Seems a common theme - I found the 360 a big let down on the track too. The flappy paddle gearbox was rubbish...

I don't understand why people want the 360 and not the 430... Guess it must be price, as the depreciation is so slow ?

Maybe it was a must-have dream car for some. The 430 is undoubtedly a better car but they are seriously expensive...

well i expected to log back on and have ppl saying what! supercars no good? lol, but i think its the image of them and noise etc, and also the dream stems from when you are younger to drive that type of "supercar".

having driven them it was such a disapoinment, they just felt big uncomfortable and harsh, TBH the gallardo and f430 was gutless in the lower revs which really shocked me.

buy gutless i mean, faster than most but just had to wait for the power to come in, when i was expecting star trek warp speed power lol.

gimme an sl55 amg anyday, thats a car with real grunt.
