Time to move on maybe.

Sad as I am to say it, I think it's time to sell IMmie. I'll be putting up a proper ad in the next week or so, once I've had an oil change done which is about due and given her a proper clean and a few more layers of wax, but I think it's time to move on to pastures new. She's still ultra low mileage for a 2006 car on 18,500 ish and has close to a years transferable BMW/Mondial warranty plus a few goodies that I've added over the 18months or so I've owned her. The things I've added are modified back boxes (she'll come with the originals too), an Intravee/Alpine set up, an aux port, a Black Sapphire hardtop with bag and stand and a set of aero skirts still in primer and not fitted. I'm looking for about £18k, which might seem strong money, but with the warranty and selection of goodies included I think it's a fair price for a low mileage mint MR. If anyone is interested and wants to save me writing an epic ad, shoot me a message.

Edit - Also a personalised plate and a stubby :)
Edit 2 - Also the roof side covers, which aren't resprayed, they're genuine black. And a set of all weather mats (currently in the boot)
Edit 3 - Fang guards that are also not fitted. I am another serial acquirer of mods to be fitted sometime in the future...

I've not yet had an epic shiny moment, but I am thinking about pressing the button on an Abarth 595 special edition and downsizing until I can get something exotic once school bills etc are done with.

I can't believe I'm actually posting this, she's absolutely epic in every way :(

I had a little weep when I saw your musings on FB, because I still have a deep love of IMmie. The first M I drove :driving:

The price - strong but fair in the market - would have been out of my reach anyway, which probably would've resulted in the first forum suicide, so just as well I have mine one :D

Good luck

Selling a roadster just as the nice weather is arriving?

If you do go down that route at least you've picked the best time to sell - just hope you don't regret it.

Best of luck

Not yet Steve. The deal at home with cars is I can do what I want as long as it doesn't put the important stuff at risk (which pretty much means kids education). Eldest finishes at the end of the month, younger one has a year to go.

An F430 is a bucket list car and I might go down that route in a couple of years time if all goes well at work and no other expensive surprises come up. I won't borrow money for cars, I use my car allowance and bonuses so I'll have to save up. For now I'm going to test drive an Abarth 595 special edition, and if I like it will run that as the fun wheels for a couple of years.

Good luck mate!

Cheers chap. Have you still got yours?

Good luck Stuart, not that you will need it as IMmie is a cracking car

Thanks. She's much loved and this isn't an easy decision. I've been mulling it over for a good month.

Thanks. I already regret it, but this is the time to do it if I'm going to. I don't need the money, so if she doesn't sell I'll just keep her.

I thought about pinging you a warning in advance :) You're the only other person who's driven her.

Abarth is fun (as I have one), but it does not drive anything like an M of course. Are there any savings then as I paid 21k for mine?

I don't know Paul, I was going to give you a shout for an opinion. I have another friend who now has two of them, a 500 Essesse and a 595 Competizione and he said he wouldn't sell either of them. There's an Abarth dealer in Swindon so I'll call them for a test drive. I like the look of the 50th anniversary edition. I'd have possibly gone for a used 911, but I need to replace the S-Max too soon.

The UK roads are killers for an Abarth though, I am on my third set of McPersons (under warranty).

When the roads are smooth, they are killer cars - but put a pebble on the road - let alone those craters that are everywhere, and you slam into them which is not pleasant.

Good advice. Swindon isn't known for silky smooth roads, and there are some great hooning roads near the office so I can test this out properly.

People love Abarths as much as they hate BMWs, so you will get preferential treatment and smiles :D

Im sorry to hear that Stuart.
I hope you'll still fancy bringing your M to breakfast at the AV8 cafe next Sunday though ?

Good luck Stuart, although I'm sure it won't be needed. If you have a plan, which it sounds like you do (and I remember you mentioned this at Duxford) and you can go with it then I'd be doing the same. The car is worth good money and it is perfect selling weather - and an f430 :-) I'm sure I would if I could!!

I'm the only person apart from Paul who's driven mine, weird but 8)

I really hope someone on the forum takes her off your hands, such a beautiful car.

Good luck Stuart with what ever happens  I must say I feel really sad for you that its going and I cant believe its been 18 months as it seems like yesterday that I was over the moon for you buying such a stunning example, all the best going forward. :)

Don't forget all the grease monkeys who've taken her out for a 'test drive', i.e. an Italian tune up, whenever she's been in for work....

That's why I ensure the garage knows that I have a data logger installed and can see just what's been happening

Have you got the semi auto box? I would go for that, but not sure how good it is.

Yes, that was all that was available on the convertible. Bit like the DCT really, always knows best :D
