I've never seen a 2.0 or 2.2 badged as a 3.0.

I saw a black 2.5 badged as a 3.0 for sale by a dealer when I was looking for mine. Dealer advertised it as a 2.5 and didn't even realise it had the 3.0 wing bling on.

I've also seen pics (though not in the flesh) of a 3.0 badged roadster with a single exhaust pipe as per 4 cylinder cars.

Isn't that - literally - a breach of trade description? Advertising a car as one thing when its really another.

Indeed we've just bought a new 116i M sport, we decided on the 'M' version as it has a more 'sporty' look and some nice alloys and trim. I might stick an 'M' badge on the rear of it to wind up 'M' owners! I could then put a sticker on the bumper saying ' my other car is an 'M' :lol:

I think your missing the fact that you have a 'Z4M' not an 'M'

The z4m is your model Id and the M is a refeference to the Motorsport devision, the same as on the dials or they gear stick.

Or is it different in the UK?

Ok I'll grant you that but the wheel badges are so minuscule you'd need never notice them unless you looked very closely.

Hmm the 135i has an 'M' badge on the back and it's not a proper 'M'. If a car is 'M' sport then it has parts developed by Motorsport division such as suspension and brakes. I think BMW are blurring the lines themselves, to make more money of course!!

People will buy what they can afford, and so what if the stick a badge on it?
It's their car, they should be able to do what they want with it, not have to remove them because of negative comments.
I reckon it's usually from those who believe their car is more a materialistic purchase that 'God forbid' would possibly be matched by the poorer, those exclusives, who want to post how to change their Z4 washer fluid in the "M" section.

You are bang on mate. I had 2 in a row and they were 400 BHP monsters - until the 500 BHP XFR came along, so I had to get one of them. Truly awesome cars. Just couldn't afford to keep the XFR. It was a choice between losing the Zed and the XFR, so......the growling cat had to go!

it was a honda civic 'type r' badge with a single exhaust, so i very much doubt it was this monster you talk about.
