Thinking of swapping my CSL back to a Z4MC

Hi all

More of a feeler really, currently have M3 CSL but wouldn't mind getting back into a Z4MC

Wondering if anyone is interested in swapping ?

My car is SG, has 62k on the clock

Full service history
Upgraded Stereo and speakers
AP brakes front and rear
Perfect working order
Inspection required in 5K
Spare set of cups with 1/2 track days left in them

In a Z4MC I would like

Most colours apart from red
Below 50K miles
Full service history
Something in A1 condition

I am pretty realistic about the price of my car and the Z4MC market too, so if anyone is interested in a possible deal, drop me a PM, obviously cash my way

I really like the sound of the CSL but like the looks of my Z4MC even more.... if you could get a CSL engined Z4MC that would be perfect!

Interesting stuff. I think the same as RankBajin, the looks and rarity of a Z4MC wins it every day for me. I never see CSLs either to be honest, but they don't stand out enough from a standard E46 M3 for me.

They are epic cars and have fantastic residuals, and I'm sure you won't have any problem selling it on toplad, there's always people after CSLs.

Just out of curiosity, what haven't you loved enough with the CSL, or what are you missing from your Z4MC that's making you consider swapping cars (aside from several grand in your bank account if you do swap :D )?

i think this says ALOT of the z4m imo.... this owner has had a z4m before, now went to a csl, now wants back in a z4m, these cars are insanely underated, grab a good one asap, the properly cared for, low owner, low mileage ones are a rarity now and will continue to be so....

toplad will be great to have you back :-)

I'd say it would be easier and more beneficial to sell the CSL and buy the 'right' Z4MC at your leisure.

I'd do the swap myself as I always look forward to driving my mate's CSL (usually on the way to/at the 'Ring), but I've got no cash to put into it, and mine's got 56k and is red (Ruby Black) :P

Thanks for replies guys, currently traveling down to London and can only use my smart phone to reply to posts, so please excuse me if some of my replies are a bit wooden or less than eloquent.
I would consider a car without nav, I never really rated the navigation system and would love to install a decent after market system .
Regarding the difference between the Csl and Z4mc, its not that I don't rate the Csl highly, because I do, its a wonderful machine, the handling is sublime compared to Z4mc. Use to own a Cayman s and its on par with it, maybe not in the initial first turn of the wheel into the corner, the Cayman s felt more poised due to chassis layout, but once turned in, the balance and grip of the car through fast corners is very impressive and reminds me very of the Cayman.
The Csl is also slightly faster in a straight line, sounds fantastic, is more practical and is becoming a icon.
The downsides of the Csl are the fairly bland looks compared to the Z4mc, my wife commented," you've sold our sports car for a saloon"?. :) and the lack of a proper manual gearbox, I used to love heel and toeing down from 3rd to 2nd. The Z4mc also feels stiffer and more modern device with a few toys to keep you amused along along the way, I also still miss the right hand side arm rest on the Z4mc, lol
The main reason I would consider another Z4mc is due to the fact that I had just as much fun is the Z as the CSL, I've owned some great cars over the years. Along with the 911 and the CSL the z4 is one of the few I'd buy again, I'd have some money in the bank too. The major down side is the road tax price, I only do about 4k a year and felt like I was being royally bent over for the amount of use I got out of the car

Only driven one on the road (not in anger), but have had countless laps in a few on track. You can really take liberties with the CSL and it just reacts in such a composed manner... I can think of countless times i've said to the drivers (you wouldn't do this in the Z :fuelfire: :fuelfire: ), the balance just feels much more in tune. However, for the very reason you're looking at the Z again is why i didn't buy one 5 years ago (it's "3 series" the misses said)... Recently showed her the GTR and she said exactly something similar (it's a Nissan)... :headbang: .

Like Richard Hammond said, the Zed's abit like pushing a bull up a back stair case, so needs full attention...... and that's why we love it. You get to the other end really feel the adrenaline

GWTS

Yes the CSL is a great car, the handling and sound is amazing. However love the shape of the Z4M and that's why I did a CSL conversion on my Z4MR :-)

I think the Z4M is a very underrated car.

Having driven both, the CSL is leagues ahead of ours! Damping it much better, grip is better, noise is better, driving position and box is better!

The Z4 does look good though with the skirts, lowering and wheels though, better value overall too.

I certainly wouldn't change from a CSL to a Z4 though.

Whats changed your mind then Ali I remember you saying you weren't that impressed after the mini hoon.

when I bought the Z4MC in France it was €27.5k Euro and the CSL £25k GBP, so I was pretty torn up about it but the looks and practicality of LHD won the day. Still I can't think or look at a CSL without thinking I made a mistake.

mine is defo not for sale  where you gonna put the baby chairs ??? i thought you needed the extra space...

Turns out the wife finds the Csl to raw and hates getting in it, so I very rarely have more the two people in the car.
Must say,I took the car out for the first time in 2 weeks and was absolutely astounded by the speed and composer of the thing, thought I must be mad to want to swap this thing for anything less than 911 s

Even a 911 S... not sure I would..

Got one of those too and although lovely I would prefer a M3 CSL but do love the Porsche bring a smile every time you see or hear it. But a very different car.

I do have a soft spot for porsche's, had a few of them

Im not sure they are that different in performance terms, the C2S can play both the hooning machine and its better at the everyday thing. The Csl also feels a bit more fragile.
A lot of people assume the 911 is more of a GT car, but when pushed, its a proper sports car
