I'm glad you said that. I've spent the morning wondering if I've made the right choice, the crap weather isn't helping along with the fact there's a Z identical to the one i've bought outside work and it looks crap. Mainly because it's got horrible wheels and is filthy.

the coupe is more exclusive but when the sun comes out and the top is down, you will know that you made the right choice
 
Ultimately you've bought a fantastic car, everyone has their preferences as to whether they're a tin-topper or a pram-topper, but at the end of the day it's still a Z4! Welcome to the club.

Don't let the rain get you down, it's still a brilliant car with the roof up.

Slightly OT question to the OP! What is the Coupe you went to look at like? I've seen it advertised (I'm assuming its the same one) and am reasonably interested in it but its over 200 miles away so can't pop over to view. I've got in touch with the seller but want as accurate description of the condition as possible before viewing!

Number of owners doesn't really bother me, it says full service history, is this with BMW? And is it really in as good a condition as he describes?

You must be the guy he told me about. He called me to ask if I was still interested yesterday.

The car is in great condition. Few minor stone chips as you would expect at this age and a very minor surface scratch about 1 inch over the rear passenger wheel arch. The interior dash trim had a nasty mark but could be easily replaced. Mechanically everything seemed fine and the engine had no signs of rattles etc and none of the bolt heads looked like they had ever seen a spanner since the factory.

The only history with the car were the stamps in the book (no insp 1 insp 2 boxes ticked so left you guessing what had been done) and the last service wasn't BMW. The seller was a little bit airy about the history. He bought the car from a garage in Middlesborough but the V5 showed the last owner lived in Arbroath and the car must have lived up there as there was a stamp from an Arbroath dealer. This all came as a surprise to the current owner when I asked how the car ended up in middlesbrough. It's not a big deal really but I'm picky about that stuff having discovered a hidden past on a previous car.

It was a good car. If you go to have a look check the paint around the badges on the driver side front wing. I didn't spot any signs of repair or paint anywhere but thought I spotted a little bubble in at this badge. It could have been dirty or something though. Gut feeling played a part in my decision and I got a better gut feeling about the one I bought. That's not to say this isn't a good car, it just wasn't for me. Negotiate a discount and buy it, the only reason it's not selling is because it isn't advertised in the right places and the advert is a bit poor. That said it was a bit "poverty spec" so not much to list anyway.
