Thinking about buying a z4 coupe

No brainer. The Coupe looks better, more practical for the UK weather, will hold it's value better and you won't look such a girlie! :hairdryer: 
I wanted to drive the roadster with the roof down but it was peeing down when I test drove it. It rains a lot here.
My wife suggests just putting the windows down in the coupe and sticking my head out
Does £9k seem like a good price for a 56 plate coupe with 57k miles in good condition with new tyres? Seems like the guy has struggled to sell but think that's more to do with crap advertising. I'd obviously rather lose as little money as possible (wouldn't we all). I kind of figure the roadster is near the bottom of it's depreciation so will now slow as 3.0 z3s are still around £4500.

Buy the roadster, spend £700 of what you save on a hard top 
That said, seems a good price for the coupe, but I have seen it said on here you need to keep a grand back to fix things you find later, or get it up to how you like. I have spent about 900 'necessary' pounds on mine since I bought it, so feels like good advice to me.

Bought the roadster.
In the end I convinced myself by having a short blast on some B roads with the top down, great fun and it felt like a wee treat after being stuck in my steel box POS that I use for commuting. Test driving the coupe didn't feel that special (can't see the fact the car looks stunning when you are sitting in it) I just felt like I was sitting in the 320d that I used to have. I have no doubts that the coupe is the better car if you are looking for something to belt round a track in, I'd don't need to worry about that though as I have the use of a Caterham for such adventures. The coupe did feel miles stiffer than the roadster (dare say the sport suspension and bigger wheels played a part) but that was it's downfall on the roads around here which are usually terrible. I was hunching my shoulders and cringing whenever i hit rough patches.
The saving was also a big contributing factor. I like to fart about with my cars but there wasn't any change left in the toy kitty if I bought the coupe. Got enough left now to keep me busy for a good while as I've promised my wife I won't get bored and want to change in 6 months this time.

Well done, you won't regret it, all you need now is a GapTech auto roof module to finish it off and make putting the roof up and down such a joy.

Thanks all for the welcome. The car is a bit average at the moment (apart from the driving experience) so i'll be about here a lot no doubt asking questions that have been asked before (I do solemnly swear to use the search before asking :wink: ).
Sill love the coupe and would have been my choice if I didn't have a 2 year old son, a wife that's 8 months pregnant and was going to use it as an every day car.

So far the list is as follows:
18" wheels and non run flats (trying to find some style 313s at the right size)
MF steering wheel either in Msport style or i'll get an SE and have it reprofiles and retrimmed in alcantara
Gearknob (need to find out if the aluminium performance job from the e90 will fit)
Some kind of ipod and bluetooth connection for the DSP stereo or whatever it's called
Clear headlights and side repeaters.
Possibly an exhaust bypass. Need to do a bit more research on this.
Gaptech thingy. Need to look into this, would like to be able to do one touch and work the roof off the key if possible.
Dare say that list will grow. It's not actually as long as it seemed in my head. Need to spread the mods out as don't want to do them all in the first couple of months and get bored.

looks like a busy time ahead. Plenty of advice on here about ipod and bluetooth connectivity, and guides on the headlight de-gingering. Gaptech has a group buy on at the moment, so well worth getting it. Excellent piece of kit BTW - don't see a stubby on that list, you joining the Mr Whippy club then? :whip:
