Had to press my all season Goodyear tyres into service today to go to the tuning shop, still waiting for two summer rears following a puncture.

Once warmed up the traction control light started coming on above 60mph ish and when accelerating hard..slowing me down when trying to overtake!

So I put the car into sports+ mode and solved that issue.

However the cruise control disconnects.. :tumbleweed:

So Cruise only works in comfort mode and sports mode..never knew that..makes sense in some ways unless you are a Bondar hooning over the hills with squidgy tyres.. :driving:

Comfort Entry & Exit Mode:

1) Entering the car:
Pressing the open button on the key fob twice, the windows get lowered automatically when opening the door and will go up again after closing the door.

2) Exiting the car:
Take the key in your hand, once again press the open button twice, the window gets lowered and raised up when opening the door, even when leaving the car.

Very useful in tiny parking slots.

I didn't realise my sports seat had inflatable side bolsters until recently. Always bothered me that the 1 series had them but the zed didn't. I never really bothered to look and I guess the button is quite low down. I was chuffed at the discovery though!

I didn't discover the tilt function on the manual seats for about a year..I was in pain after about an hour's driving (behind the knees)..then one day pulled the lever by accident, my bottom plopped down another 2-3 inches ..instant comfort!

Really should RTFM..I tell everyone else to!

It took me 18 months with my first Z4 to discover that, and as I did it by accident I thought I had broken something.
Was so relieved that the window went back up when I shut the door!

@ RobbiZ4 this literally is the answer I’ve been looking for when my window randomly opens all the way down sometimes…. I must be hitting the key without noticing! Definitely makes getting in and out a lot easier

If you have idrive, the 8 buttons can be assigned to any function and can differ for each key. I use
1. Aux audio for my firefly usb thing
2. FM radio
3. FM radio
4. Close the screen
5. AM 5 live
6. Call the missus (call me on her key)
7. Cancel navigation
8. Navigate to holiday home

I hope one day I’ll accidentally discover how to make the stereo not automatically play audio from the iPhone.

I know this can be done just never figured out how to bloody do it :?

When I first got mine I didn't realise you could split the iDrive screen to display two views and that the CD player was a DVD player :D

I think that's a great way to use that wide screen..I usually have the map on the left and my 'jukebox' with artwork in the 'media' on the right!

Just get the option you want selected in the menu and press the desired button until it bongs. If you lightly touch the buttons it wil show what is recorded.

To stop automatically playing audio for your iPhone

In idrive
Select Bluetooth (press controller)
Then select Your phone
Move the Idrive controller to right side
Configure device
Uncheck audio
Ok

This will stop it automatically playing unfortunately if at anytime you want to play music from your phone you will have to recheck the audio box.

At the risk of sounding ungrateful, thanks, but what I really, really hope to discover one day is how to make the iDrive wait until I say so to play music from the iPhone.

Car has five driving modes, not just comfort, sport and S+

There is a traction mode by pressing DSC, for snow / ice and perhaps over the occasional grass field etc.

Then holding DSC puts DSC properly off, perhaps for track days or some tomfoolery!

Ive got Button 8 assigned to Night Time Mode - it Toggles between Day/Night
The system has no Auto day/night and its not nice having Cyclops beaming that much light into your eyes at night.
