Kuh, the things you discover

Bought my 35iS on 30 November 2016 at 20k miles. Now done 65k. Thought it was about time the wife drove it (instead of her dreadful rag-top Mustang). So, took her round the car, showing her all the bits & bobs.

She asked where the battery was, so I pulled up the boot floor to show her and ... next to it there's a first aid kit!

Wonder if that was a 35iS specific thing, or an option? (don't have one in my 35i :( ). Nice that you're still finding things after all this time, all I usually find are new scratches, broken trim etc

I thought First Aid kits were mandatory and always supplied in all German cars?
(Along with a warning triangle)

Probably well out of date by now, will check mine later thanks for the tip
There is apparently one hiding under the passenger seat in my car. Never checked in 9 years. Definitely something under there though, it gets in the way hoovering.

long ago and far away, when I wandered around in an ambulance looking for trouble. I had to bring the ambulance in for it's annual vehicle inspection. and it failed the inspection because (they claimed) it was a commercial vehicle and required a small first aid kit behind the driver's seat. When I got back and told the service director, she was PISSED. she said "THE WHOLE DAMN THING IS A FIRST AID KIT" in very loud words. we had to go to the local dollar store and buy a cheap first aid kit with band aids before they would pass it. :headbang:

My 35is has two different first aid kits stored in the passenger side boot floor compartment. I figured that was standard but after checking my manual it's not mentioned.

Well blow me down. Just check the cubby in the boot, pulled out the bag of tools, reached and found this.

Just to be 100% sure I haven't missed anything - what 'cubby in the boot' are you talking about?

In mine - for the first aid kit - there's one to the right of the battery. The one for the tool kit is between that and the bumper.

In the E89 there is a cubby in the floor on the left side as you stand behind the car looking into the boot. Mine had a tool kit in it. I added a bottle of fix-a-flat, some latex gloves, a rag, and such.

Cubby in the boot on the left. Has a sticker of a sutcase on it

That cuppy caused me a problem, i dropped a can of Johnstones cream emulsion paint on to it to return to DIY shop.
Little did i know how weak the plastic tub was. Two days later i looked in the boot and saw paint leaking out of the bottom of the tub. The little lever had puncture and cracked the tub.
I managed to clean off as much as possible and then used artists black acrylic paint to dye the carpet back to the charcoal colour.
My cuppy holds first aid kit, spare plug, coil, camshaft solenoids, various screws, fasteners, toe eye, Allen keys, wheel nut trims, orange pry tools.
Space next to battery is the old alternator belt as a spare.

Thought so. Checked long ago, no first aid kit :(

If the car wasn’t new to you it’s very likely that a previous owner has taken it !
They are handy to have “just in case”
