Thieving Gits!

Most weeks I travel with work so the car was parked for a few days in the short stay, fully lit, carpark at Dublin airport and this is what I came back to! Thieving b*$t@£:.....................

I can see they took the covers for the headlight washers but I'm not sure what else I need. I assume there is something that plugs into what's left? Funny enough I've never seen what pops up :-)

I've had a search through other threads but want to make sure I order the right bits.

Many thanks for any advise

Can you ask for cctv footage, might lead to the scumbags being discovered? :?

You'll need new washer pumps, yours are now broken, and washer caps. Don't waste your time with cheap copies, look at the original BMW part and you'll see most of them are completely the wrong shape and so they won't sit properly within the bumper.

About £35 secondhand for each pump, about double that for new, and the caps will be about £45-£50 painted for a pair.

They will end up on Ebay, There is a market for towing covers so suspect this is the same, as its easier to get one off Ebay than to get an unpainted one from the dealer and then having to paint it up to match.. I know this because the one on my Missus car went missing a when I went looking on Ebay there were tons of them

That's such a shame OP - I feel your pain!

I hope they can be traced from CCTV, and get what they are due.

Areseholes, could have at least nicked them without breaking your jets :x Funnily enough I walked past an x3 or something the other day that had the covers missing and thought to myself how pissed I be if it happened to met :(
washer covers are 51117078261 and 51117078262
the jets themselves are 61677057451 & 61677057452 and will require the bumper off. You'll need to get them sorted for MOT time...

You should be OK for the MOT if you have Halogen headlights - you only need them with the Bi-Xenons.

Correct, sorry I thought they were xenon.

Somewhere I read ( as usual can't track down where ) I am sure I read that they are the same as Volvo parts. May be cheaper than BMW?

Huge thank you for all the replies and massive thanks to TomK for the part numbers. Makes it allot easier.

Really is an amazing forum and community
:D

I'll let you know if I get any cctv footage

If it’s the same as in the UK it’ll be an MOT advisory as the car is pre-2009.

A mate’s car suffered the same. I was pretty shocked at the cost of replacing them!

I think it’s just the diamond bracket that is the same. Would love to be corrected though as I need a new headlamp jet and bound to be cheaper if Volvo part could be used.

The toe tags just don't care do they. They will probably know the air port security, if they are doing this. So little chance there. But still worth getting back to them as it might help improve things for others.

Did they photo scan your car before you parked it up?

Hey OP, I have 2x pumps spare if you want them; only kicker is one does not have the diamond clip that secures the cap to the pump as I needed to use it on the new bumper I got. But if you want the pumps PM me and we can sort something out. Can't help with the washer caps I'm afraid as mine are titan silver.

Maybe a good time to pull the front bumper and fill them in, they make a good mess of the front when they ae triggered and if you fill them in its a much much cleaner look. I guess unless you need them for your Rego inspection, they you can have my sprayers, ive already given away my covers. drop me a line. I dont have any uk trips this or next month, so might need to ship.

Yeh, I live in the North so same UK MOT system. Only difference is that we have to go to Government test centres rather than registered garages. Feeling is that it's a little more strict.

It would be odd if they apply the rules differently just because it’s a government test centre.

Just checked .gov.uk - you can only fail (major defect) on headlight washers if your car was first used on or after September 2009 and has HIDs or LEDs.

The car I just MOT’d for my friend doesn’t have them and has only ever received advisories (from three different test centres).
