If it’s the same as in the UK it’ll be an MOT advisory as the car is pre-2009.

A mate’s car suffered the same. I was pretty shocked at the cost of replacing them!
Yeh, I live in the North so same UK MOT system. Only difference is that we have to go to Government test centres rather than registered garages. Feeling is that it's a little more strict.

It would be odd if they apply the rules differently just because it’s a government test centre.

Just checked .gov.uk - you can only fail (major defect) on headlight washers if your car was first used on or after September 2009 and has HIDs or LEDs.

The car I just MOT’d for my friend doesn’t have them and has only ever received advisories (from three different test centres).
Had my daily (a 2004 330D with OE xenons) pass its MOT recently with non-functioning headlight washers (I'd actually disconnected them as the jet was leaking) - and they weren't even mentioned.

Although I have had to clean them manually over the winter as the light output dropped significantly with the crap being thrown up in the spray.

You'll need to get them sorted for MOT time...

You should be OK for the MOT if you have Halogen headlights - you only need them with the Bi-Xenons.
Correct, sorry I thought they were xenon.

Don't even need them with Xenons - mine got through with my washers not working, just an advisory

Hey OP, I have 2x pumps spare if you want them; only kicker is one does not have the diamond clip that secures the cap to the pump as I needed to use it on the new bumper I got. But if you want the pumps PM me and we can sort something out. Can't help with the washer caps I'm afraid as mine are titan silver.

Thank you for this. I've not done anything about new ones yet as away with work again. Will look and drop you a PM.
She's parked up this time at the Belfast airport................. I wonder will anyone make off with the whipey aerial?

They will nick the whippey and put a stubby in it’s place 😃 On a serious note though sorry to hear what has happened.

Not a problem; someone else has expressed interest in them but you have first dibs - if you can let me know as soon as you can.

Well, you learn something new every day....I thought mine had just fallen off! One washer is still intact, the other is like the picture above.

Mother.....I've been burgled!

Doh - I was trying to find this thread a couple of days ago as my nearside headlight washer managed to leak away 2 litres of screen-wash in 2 days so I got a new one ordered today!

If they don't need to work on a 56 plate I would have just clamped the pipe - poxy things are more trouble than they are worth!
