There would have been riots if there was no gas

But for us on heating oil, you hear nothing. There is no heating oil, you can not order it, there simply isn’t any.

We have now been without heating for a week now, just using logs to keep fires going to warm part of the house.

It is unbelievable, the order I placed (and paid) weeks ago just isn’t materialising.

Managed to get a few jerrycans of oil at a pump 60 miles away to keep the hot water going (at £2 a litre …).

blimey, thats bad. I'm glad I ordered just before Christmas.

Seems strange that the stocks have already gone only days after the crisis started.

I got an email today (below) from my heating oil supplier and the invoice for my oil delivered 2 weeks ago at 0.6211 ppl :headbang: I was complaining about that price btw.

I’m hoping my latest delivery lasts a while!!!!

Hi Andrew,

Hope all good with you?

All good here thanks apart from bloody ridiculous price fuel is getting.

You are a lucky chap getting yours last month.

Current price @ 0.9195 ppl + VAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please find attached invoices

I am surprised they took payment considering the increasing daily rates which may be why you havn`t received it yet .

We were quoted 81 ppl last friday if ordering over 1000 ltrs 82 ppl if under 1000 . They would not take payment as they said that the oil was not available until this coming Friday and we would have to pay whatever the price was on that day :( I hate to think what price that will be . I tried boilerjuice site and there were no supplies available for our area :( . I have ordered extra wood for the wood stove and that supplier said he was really busy due to massive increase in heating oil prices .

Big unknowns as of now, fast forward 6 months and you might still see those riots. The gas will still be flowing but many won't be able to afford it.

Throw it ever increasing food costs, fuel, NI contributions, council tax etc it ain't going to get better anytime soon, especially with predictions of annual fuel bills topping 3k from next October

Tim.

They always take payment on confirmation of oil, I usually use boilerjuice and they do the same. They went off air a few days back when it hit 1.26 on their site.

To think I have an oil company within a mile from the house but I can’t get it from there as they are not public facing :headbang:

I found whitehorseenergy very good for logs. Just ordered 2 cubic meters of ash for £255 which comes in a crate. They deliver in 2 days, I can’t cut the trees i have down quick enough for what I need now.

Bought 500L a month ago and it cost me £330. The same amont was £233 last October :o

Crikey, so maybe my post in another thread about us paying £5 a litre for petrol in a month's time is not so outlandish after all :|

It’s shocking, I’ve been depending on our log burner since prices have gone bonkers & luckily it looks like we’ve seen the back of freezing conditions now :o
Rob

My two Neighbours are on oil and there last delivery was 52ppl and he was trying to order the next lot last week and was struggling and complaining about the price

He has a log burner in his garage which he removed from his house, he said that was going back in over the summer

Thankfully I am on gas and its a fixed price of 32ppl until Aug 24

Now imagine the theft risk, a full tank of 2500 litres would be worth £5k. Fortunately my tank is hidden and not visible from the road but some of my neighbours tank are right near the road

Is it worth fitting a new boiler and switching over to Propane?

The government want you to be switching to heat pumps, but online reviews don't give me confidence. if I had a big enough garden maybe a ground source heat pump would work, but the air ones dont appear to be very good or need very specific circumstances (such as new houses, with great insulation) to work based on the reviews. Hopefully it will be a few years before I actually need to replace my old oil burner..

And with the power cuts we get, not sure how that will work. Need solar panels with batteries to feed the heat pump :o

Heat pumps are only really suitable for well insulated houses and specifically for new builds from 2025
