Hi Everyone,

I'll admit it's not often I feel compelled to get off my behind and do something worthwhile. After all it's so much easier in these days of Comic Relief, Sport Relief etc to let someone else do the hard work and just pick up the phone and donate a couple of quid.

I'm sure you'll agree that in this day and age Cancer has affected almost everyone one way or another. Because it has effected our lives we have decided that over 5 days in June Nosa and Jimmypop and I will be attempting to follow the path of Hadrians Wall starting at Segedunum Fort in Wallsend to its finish 87 miles away in Bowness on Solway, collecting en route the 7 stamps available under the Hadrians Wall Passport scheme and thereby qualifying for the completion certifcate.
We will be doing the walk unsupported camping at various locations along the route and carrying the tents, sleeping bags, food etc we need for the week.

To quote Nosa 'We have been planning this for a wee while now and with Carl's (cj_eds) recent passing it has focused my mind to complete this. I have lost both my parents and my mother in law to cancer, every little step taken towards beating cancer is a good one'.

We are trying to raise money for charity and are in the process of setting up pages to allow online donations, we are each supporting different charities and would appreciate any support you may be able to offer us, below are links to mine and Nosas pages, I'll add Jimmypops when he creates one.

My page in support of Yorkshire Cancer Research and Breast Cancer Campaign

Nosas page in support of Macmillan Cancer Support

Jimmypops page in support of The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre and Cancer Research UK

Thanks again for any help you can offer us.

Bump for this - I'll be donating on payday :D

Hopefully all the kind comments for cj_eds' family can be translated into something meaningful

Only just seen this. Sad that such a well meaning thread has slipped down the page with so few views, especially after the recent sad events with cj_eds. Perhaps it could be made a sticky?

Good on you guys and great cause  working in a hospice the past 6 months I have worked very closely with people affected by cancer. Shall be donating shortly.

Hi guys,

Bit late to the game but here is my donation page http://www.virginmoneygiving.com/team/Hadriaaaan

I am hoping to raise money for Cancer Research UK and The Beatson Oncology Centre Fund. Working as a doctor in the West of Scotland I have had a chance to work alongside those who work and volunteer in The Beatson. I really don't know where we would be without them. Read here to see where your money would be going http://www.beatson.scot.nhs.uk/content/default.asp?page=home_Fund

At the end of the day, as long as the donations come rolling in, it doesn't matter which page they go to -they're all going to worthwhile (and related) causes!

All three of you raising money for different but worthwhile charities so I've split a donation across the three of you :)

Good Luck!

Very kind of you. I like to think that we've covered the whole range of cancer charities from research and novel treatments to spiritual, symptomatic and palliative care of patients and relatives.

I'll stagger my donations over the next two months, 1 down, 2 to go :D
