The Waiting Game..

Mine was at the port/distribution centre for over a week and the dealer was waiting for 14 other cars as well, so this may be correct.
(dont tell Keith though....he'll start telling you its been crashed!).

OK, so I have an update from my inside contact at Thorne...
My car arrived safe and sound, perfect transit with no damage so thats reassuring.
Apparently the car is already at the dealership in Warrington (they took deloivery on the 31st March) It wasnt scheduled to be delivered until 10th April. I have a call into my dealer to find out whats happening but as of yet he hasnt returned my call.
Anyway, she sent me across a few screen shots from the system with details of the car etc so thought I would share if anyone is interested.

Somewhere I have years old photo from someone at BMW NA in New Jersey. -- There we using an older system that relied heavily on a large number post-it notes stuck to the sides of a computer monitor.

What might someone do with a VIN number? Don't see it being much use anymore.
Back before electronics keys you might use it to get a key made. Maybe. Dealers aren't supposed to cut a key from the VIN without documents.

can she check on the progress of mine? the dealer has gone quiet on me and i am thinking he might have fed me some porkies on my delivery date to get me to put down a deposit and will obviously keep promising delivery dates in the hope i might just give in and hang on for it

Had a couple of people pm me asking this. She sort of did it as a one off mate kinda thing. She doesn't work in that dept so it's not easy for her to check and I had to do some

I was in Haliwell Jones yesterday to have a look at mine, it was in the big shed at the back looking very sad and like it had just returned from the Paris to Dakar rally, covered in a brown sandy dust, looked like it had been rained on as well, water streaks all over it.
Anyhow like you they offered me the 13th for collection, we are going away on the 15th so it is not worth it, something to look forward to on our return so it is the 24th now...if things had been different we may have met up at the dealers on the 12th...anyhow enjoy it when you get it.
