The Waiting Game..

I just hope I beat KeithJ, that'll really p*ss him off, considering it was his original post that convinced me! :P

(how long till he bites!!!) :poke:

Kevin, I will come down and personally piss on your interior, spit on your sat nav and leave a rather brown present from my bum in your glove box!

How do you like that for a bite?

HaHa!!! Set them up then knock 'em down!!!!

Thats quite a big bite you got there!!!!

So the race is on! I accept your offer! (Bushy will pay good money for the dvd!!!)

Whats the latest on yours?

Well it's out the body shop and I am hoping it's finished. I am going to call tomorrow and find out. What about you?

Body Shop --> Paint Shop --> Assembly. There are inspections at the end of all three. If a car fails inspection, they fix it at the plant. They also occasionally take a car aside for extra QA tests.

For anyone who chose model deletion, a guy who comes in on Friday with a big spool of dental floss. :poke:

I've got a Waitrose food shop being delivered this evening....I can't wait!!!! :poke:

When I called the stealer yesterday he said it was on the ship! It's only meant to be built this week, so must've got bought forward. Then he said released to the carrier, so it might not be on the boat, but is definately built and waiting.

He said again its crossing the Atlantic - he seems certain its built in America, but I didn't have the heart to correct him, after all, don't dealers know everything? (...no need to answer that!).

So hopefully be at the dealer wk 11 if all goes well...I cant see it taking that long myself.

That offer still stands if you get the car before me! :x

I am going to be honest, the dealers knowledge is average to below average at the very best. I dont know why dealerships just dont designate each staff member with a model and tell them to brush up on it to expert level then after they get that knowledge, swap to another model!

My dealer also beleives that they are still built in Spartenburg.. I said " I think the new one is built in Germany".... No. Alot of people think that as it sounds German.. Really couldnt be bothered to prove my point to him!!!

Regensburg, Spartenburg. . . They all sound the same to me.

Off topic since they don't build the Z4 there anymore,

The physical US BMW plant is in Greer SC. The plant mailing address is a Post Office box in Spartenburg.

Good videos of the build process. Just turn down the sound. . .

They've increased the amount of automation at the US plant since we toured in 2008. Still, the US body shop has more hands-on work than in the highly automated Plant Oxford MINI body shop line. Regensburg will be similar but every plant is unique.

The US Paint shop was one of the first to use water-borne paint.

Of the three parts, Assembly was the most similar between Oxford and Spartenburg.

Have any of you chaps had a think about what insurances you are going to buy? (Obviously at far cheaper prices than the stealers of course! )

I've had a look at car2cover.co.uk for tyre insurance and ala.co.uk for GAP insurance which appears to be cheapest

don't think im going to get tyre insurance, and already have GAP via BMW included with lease

Who's up next for delivery then? Mine's still aaages away :(

On the positive side, should find out this week if it'll be a Week 11+ build and get the upgraded roof bits (every cloud!) :D
