The Ring

Are there any particularly good areas to spectate at the Ring?

Yes I am taking the Zed and yes I am taking my wife - and of course "NO you're not taking the car on that road"

If I did sneak away and had a go, sods law being what it is etc.....

So the deal is, we go and spectate!

Adenau forest is a great viewing point, but a serious trek if the gate is closed to cars.

Brunchen, Pflantzgarten, T13, Hatzenbach, Brieschied, Bergwerk, Wershiefen are easily accessible.

Any questions, just post em up

you dont have to drive round it quickly - there are coaches and trabants and all sorts of stuff on there

What frightens me is not seeing someone doing double the speed I am behind me

Sadly the Ring has become dramatised by those that go and come back with stories of doom and......ooh you must respect it and do at least 347 passenger laps and you must never time yourself or the world will end and we'll all die :headbang:

It's just a road, granted there are some people going very very quickly, but a competent driver with half ounce of common sense and a bit of awareness, will have no problems.
If you are worried but want to go round, try and get a weekday lap when the Ring traffic is greatly reduced and far far less intimidating.

Stick to the right of the track when traffic is catching you and they'll just go and the clear off.

All just my opinion of course.

I'm just an average driver, and I've managed to do multiple trips to the 'Ring without worrying an apex :P

Drive it like you would a British B-road and you'll be fine.

I am currently sat in a bar at the ring, first time here and planning on going on tomorrow! (hopefully the weather will improve!)

You wont be able to resist when you're there! Its buzzing! Honestly you can drive it at your own pace though and the cars fly past you so fast you wont even notice them

Did the ring on day 2 or 3 of a two week euro tour in a 330 cd msport with holiday luggage and girlfriend in passenger seat. As the others say go at your own pace and enjoy it. Although watch out for Americans in hired M3s though...... Can't remember the name but there is a B&B or "pension" at the top of the hill next to a pub run by a english chap who was thoroughly knowledgeable and very nice (great schnitzel). Like the others say go mid week. I turned up on the weekend and didn't bother waiting around. Buggered off to belgium for the weekend and came back during the week.

When are you going?

On the return leg of our Euro trip ie between 1st and 6th Sept.

Ill see you there then...! x

Sadly not now!

We've had to cancel the trip (3 days before sailing) at this time as my elderly Mother is in hospital and the Dr's have advised us that a trip away at this time is very likely to be cut short by the inevitible.

I dont think there are many who could travel with such a black cloud following.

If you did go it would ruin the trip and if the inevitable did happen then you would regret not being there, can go to the ring at any time.

I keep thinking about going but the horror stories put me off, if I did go Id hire one of the cars there, OK its expensive way to do it but its not my problem (Other than the excess) if the worst happens.

The thing that scares me most is if I had an accident and that caused someone else to get hurt I would be liable for it and my insurance wouldnt cover it.
