Hi there, sorry to hear about your Mother and that you can't make your trip.....this time. I have been going to the ring both in cars and on my bike. All times have been fantastic and on several times we include other stuff. I see Kirtsy is going at the same time I've been twice before. We usualy go to the Belgium Beer festival in Brussels which is always on the first weekedn in Sept, great to do Friday evening, then breakfast, sober up 
.then drive down to ring area and do a lap or two. The atmosphere in the car park on those warm sunny evenings is magic 
Then on Sunday, if your a bike fan is the World Superbikes at the F1 Nurburgring circuit 
We also did a Euro trip which I started to do the write up on here but technology let me down and I lost interest. I went earlier this year and took my son and his GF for the first time. He loved it and as mentioned on here, drive at your own pace, regular check of mirrors, gun it when you can and be safe, don't get over confident and risk all, quit whilst you're ahead 8) The roads around are also fantastic and my top tip is to stay in Cochem and both roads in and out are super. You can walk down in to the town and have as much schnitzel as you like as there are some great river front reataurants overlooking and enjoy some nice Mosel wine

Cochem......agree, really nice place and the road in/out is superb, especially on the bike.
Personally I much prefer the Ring by bike, what about you?

They were doing a lot of roadworks in Cochem in June, so I hope they've finished them, as it took an hour just to turn around and come back outLance said:

My old dear is still very unwell so its very unlikely that we will be able to get away in the car this year - Hey hum, I suppose if I were knockin' on heavens door she would be doing exactly what I'm doing now.
It looks like the same plan will be on for next year tho. I have a change of car in the great plan (E89) so it might be a run out for the new one. If not, the old one will do nicely!
