the new cayman/boxster GT4

They've got it so so so so so right, the pictures do not do it justice, so much attitude in this little car, PERFECT step from a z4m if looking for something new in the same vein but turned up a good few notches. The only way a z4m is getting close to just oozing so much want to to be modded up to the hilt...

i want a GT4..... lol!! badly.

I'm not sure a lengthy review (from a self confessed BMW biased person) that essentially praises Z4M's switchgear and steering feel indicates the Z4M-GT4 gap is 'close' to a z4m - seems somewhat delusional, or at least exactly what you'd expect to read on a Z4 forum...

Porsche is a premium sportscar marque, and the GT4 is the result of multiple generations (~10 years!) work over and above the Z4M platform. I haven't driven it, but i can't see how the GT4 isn't leagues ahead of the Z4M in most aspects (switches aside..) considering the praise and reviews it's received. ECOTY etc.

On the other hand - the GT4 is probably one of a few cars that, if i wanted a like for like upgrade from the Z4, would actually tick all the similar boxes (but be newer, and improved). I say few - i can't think of another one, which probably explains the endless threads on 'what to buy next' dotted around the forum.

i think thats a pretty fair summary tbh... however have you ever experienced a heavily tuned track based setup z4m? They are very very different from the z4m you may know. I did find this owners review very interesting indeed and he has both, but lets make no bones about it, if a had the change spare, id make the move, but NOT at 109k which they are changing hands for, and even if i did id happily wager the Gt4 would not outperform my old relic.

Without ringing Porsche, what are the chances of getting your hands on one of these things if you are willing to wait? Or is it a case of no more production slots being opened up?

I would have one at list prices and be willing to wait a year for it to arrive. I would however not be willing to get one now and pay an extra £25K for the privilege.

And i won't even lie to myself right now lol my finances don't allow for this vehicle or any new vehicle thats purely a pleasure thing... 2016 is about working hard , getting my house upto the standard i want for it and getting engaged etc.... my z4 gives me all the thrills i need for the special car weekend Toy roll , and I've learned alot over the last decade, one being, "the laws of diminishing returns" sometimes be happy with what you have....

^^^^^^^ this is what I'm telling myself everytime i start dreaming about lotus's or Gt4s!!!

That doesnt stop me lusting after these however

Nice. I just want to have 2 cars (maybe 3) in my dream garage. I want a Porsche of some kind, preferably a GT car but I am not filling anyone's but Porsches pockets if I have to. A nice black Z4M Coupe with less than 30k miles and a 3 series coupe as a track car.

All my money is wrapped up in two properties at them moment but when I sell one I would like to treat myself to one of my life goals, a Porsche...!! Has to be the right car though.

H.

Sat in a GT4 today - what a stunning car with the 918 seats fitted - but no one seems to know what values are going to do.

it was next to a GT3 and to be honest the GT4 looked brilliant next to it.

At Silverstone, they had one in the showroom and one on the track, for passenger rides. Think he managed about twice the speed through the bends that I did ...

My son has just started working for Porsche Aberdeen and told me they sold the GT4 today. It was for sale on behalf of the owner.

So the Spyder @ JZM has gone - wonder if it made sale price
