The new BMW Z4

Tom's right, you'd need to get one hell of a deal to get a brand new one - and those deals that BMW are offering are only on private purchase. I buy mine through my company and you cannot get anywhere near the same deal which is why I got a 6 month old demo for £12k less than the new list price. But with BMW giving away such huge discounts to start with they are just de-valuing their product!

I can see how it might cheese people off who paid alot more new and that large discounts or dealer contributions can devalue the model/brand. Way I look at it is I'm in the seat of a Z4 for not much more than an MX5 which suits me and I feel I got far more for my money than paying 22/23K for a Mazda :) End of PCP I can always walk away if there are no decent new car deals at the time.

I don't get why you can't get the same deals through a company as you can privately - it's the same car you are buying!

Ooow I don't know Steve to be honest, I just assumed wrongly  that most on here are private buyers :)

Most companies would prefer a rental agreement as they can claim the cost of the rent against tax. Buying a car would mean it would take at least 20 years to get the full relief on it, unless it's a low emission car or it has private use in the case of non limited companies.

I know you can claim half of the vat back on a rented motor but nothing on a bought one.
As far as claiming the cost of the rent against tax, never heard of that, but then I'm no accountant!

Some good points made on this thread.

To clear up one thing though - there is another X5/6M in the pipeline so it won't be a one off. Too many sold to Russians and Chinese!

I think BMW with this facelift have acknowledged they've made a boo boo and as Maniac said, they've not pumped much into it in terms of design/engineering costs. I've also seen very little marketing so far as well. Back to the drawing board for the successor, that's if they haven't been dissuaded from making another one.

Not 100% sure it's devaluing the brand. All the manufacturers are trading off their respective sporting variants

Audi S-line
BMW M style or M sport
VW R line
Volvo R design

Most people know the difference.
