Hello everyone,

After having to abandon the Z4 for about 3 months due to the ridiculously snowy winter we get here in CZ, I finally took her for a spin today. Everything seemed awesome, until I hit a pothole so big that my rear tire blew up and the rim now has an oval shape. Took her to the dealer were I decided to order a new 17 inch rim and this time going for non runflat tyres. My cousin can get me a nice deal on a set of Pirellis, however they are 235/40/17 instead of the factory 225/45/17. Will these tyres (235/40/17) fit without any issues? :)

Many thanks and drive carefuly to dodge all the possible threats lurking under the freshly melted snow :D

Raify, yes, I will drag this to court even if it costs me more money than the actual repair. (my freind succeeded once).I am not gonna be the one to pay for this bill, it is a matter of personal satisfaction and finally getting back at those turds for stealing the money designed for repairing communications. :)

Good luck!

Thats very unfortunate... damn gastly potholes, and the stupid runflats dont help....

Do you have insurance protection over there? could you not claim on that?

aquazi, yes, I could have the insurance to pay for it but it would not be significant since I would loose all my bonuses thus making all my furue insurance payments significantly higher. I only keep insurance around in case of serious and major problems, stuff like this around 1000pounds I pay myself. :)

The law system here is that the one who looses pays the court for its "precious time"... Before taking it further I will contact the institution responsable for technical "well being" of communications (roads) and see if they are interested in paying for what their incompetence has caused, if not we will see... They get thousands of such appeals a year and manage to get away with it somehow.

So, besides the legal part, what about the 235/40/17 tyres? :D I understand that my speedo may show slight variation, but I can live with that... Will they fit ok? :)

pvr, Czech Republic is not a third-world totalitarian country, you can plead safely to any institution you want. :tumbleweed:

pvr, never stayed there except for the Cloud 9 skybar upstairs :D excellent place to eat and drink, bud it does slap your pocked around a bit... :D still cheaper than going round clubs in the UK :D

Try this link and type your sizes into the calculator, you will see the error is minimal.

excellent! :) I was wondering, will the shorter sidewall improve the handeling in corners? :) Cant wait for the 17 inch non runflat comfort I will be getting :D Will let you all know how it is :P any idea on how much a 103 style 17" alloy costs? :)

WLH, regarding the tyres 235/40/17, I ran them on the tyre calculator compared to the OEM 225/45/17 and this is what came out regarding to fender clearence : "Package will stick out 5 mm (0.2'') farther. Acceptable for most cars." As my Z4 has the OEM lower sport suspension, will the extra 5mm cause any rubbing on the fenders? :( Sorry for my questions but I have to be sure. :) I never checked my Z for fender clearence in the past therefore I am kind of blind regarding the issue.
