The M journey

As most will know, I bought the midnight blue M to replace the si. Yesterday, the first part of the trip south has been done by Lynchy on my behalf who kindly gave the car a once over and drove it down to Yorkshire.

The next step will be for my son and I to drive to Eddie on Monday to get the M and drive it South.

Looking forward to getting it and move some bits from the SI onto it. Insurance was about £20 more than the si so not bad at all.

Having seen my old M today when Bing popped around, the fitting of the CarPlay should be easier in the boot than the si.

Will keep the thread updated with the collection and other things we are doing to the car.

That's a lovely looking M

Thanks - from the pics it does  Hopefully in the flesh as well.

Those M things do get under your skin.

That was LV.

I did a full year with Admiral quote as I have 4 cars with them and an additional one would be £300 for the year (this only has 2 year NC as I have used all NC on the other cars).

The quote with LV allowed to keep the si for the rest of the insurance year as well. However, I will of course get that ready for sale so will get that premium back then.

And thanks 8)

I hope it is better than it looked in the photos!

Anyway I'm sure you'll have a lovely drive South on Monday. :driving:

I had to pay an additional premium when I swapped my Si for my M, but at the next renewal the M was actually cheaper than the Si the year before. :D

You forgot to say I got the train up to Northumberland and test drove it then drove it back to my home in North Yorkshire :P

Yes, and that

Much appreciated

Looks like a lovely example PVR. Glad you got it so quick. I was very tempted myself with that one.

I have found this to be a major issue recently. Insurance companies do not seem to understand that you may want to keep an existing car for a while when buying another. Maybe it's because the vast majority just PX their existing cars for a new one...I don't know; but I had a few irritating conversations when I wanted to sort insurance on my new car but keep the other one insured last week.

LV added £15 to the si insurance to keep it until the end of July 2025. I don’t know if that was because I already had two cars with LV and it was a multi car insurance that they mirrored the worst NC level. However, I don’t even try to understand insurance companies as it could have gone the same way as yours.

Thanks - I delayed until Monday due to the storm. Don’t fancy that during a very long drive.

Thanks - sometimes something comes along that just ticks the boxes. Wasn’t planning to look until next year as we just got the si sorted as we wanted it so when selling, there will be a lot of new bits on it that haven’t even been used yet

A wise move. I will be replacing the Asphalt membrane on the shed roof about then.

I don't blame you!

I picked my MC up on a cold, grey, drizzly December day and that was pretty miserable without storm force winds added to the mix. Cold MPSS tyres made every mini-roundabout exciting. :D

Well, the M is home.

First a train to Eddie with the usual train related issues but got there ok.

Prized the car out of Eddie’s hands and stayed in a local-ish rather nice place at Travel lodge prices

The drive back today was the length of the M1 which seems to be a permanent roadwork site. Good fuel economy as a result though.

Car is back home now and washed and ready for the updates and sorting some bits on it.

HOW have you got mid 30s?! Mine does have a shortened final drive now but I've never seen more than about 28 even on a run!

Congrats on the new car and getting it home! Must be jolly exciting to get back into another M, hope you get many smiles per gallon out of it :driving:
