The June 2012 Photo Competition - COMMENTS

I'll probably be at Zedfest for the one day. Hope to see lots of you. If Tom's there we'll probably be comparing lenses :)

I think we should have a crappy camera month

See this is my point. I know in the olden days when all the world was black and white, people used to tinker in dark rooms with their photos and photoshop is seem as a modern day darkroom but then and now only people with knowledge of darkrooms/photoshop can tinker with their pics whereas people who take snaps with their cameras therefore don't stand a chance of competing.

Although I've submitted a heavily adjusted photo for this months gallery / comp, it's difficult to spot the difference, some people are real good at it... as is evident within the Gallery. Digital cameras also have 'in camera' processing to produce your photos....where do you draw the line?

There's nothing wrong with using photoshop, I do it all the time, I just think it would be nice to just have one month where there's a 'no tinkering' rule. You'd have to trust people that they hadn't!

It's easy to tell unless someone strips all the exif data from their pic. Photoshop tags itself

I have no problem with a photoshop free month. Alternatively do a month where you post a pre and post photoshop version

True, but if you would use Photoshop to say resize the photo those tags will still be placed and resizing is necessary in most cases.

My entry is un-Photo shopped, au natural. But is this too much photo shopping or acceptable? I do like it

+1 with Carol on a month where photos are submitted raw and untouched. Could be fun. Maybe cropping/resizing allowed but thats it?

You can crop in MS paint in Windows or the equivalent Mac app, and like I said, maybe the rule is you put in a before and after to prove it :) Some of us shoot in raw and would have to convert to jpg anyway

Perhaps we can have a month where everyone has to send a hand drawn picture of their Z to WLH for scanning and uploading

:tumbleweed:

Sorry, in another strange mood today. Must be the sun outside and me stuck in. I'll get me t-shirt and go let the wind caress my bald spot :P
