I dont know what to think. I can slightly see their point.

I can relate to that.

My Mum moved into a residential home in 2018, and they (very sensibly IMO) stopped all visits on 12 March 2019. But that meant we couldn't see her on my sister's birthday, what turned out to be Mum's last birthday, her great grand-daughters 4th birthday, my birthday or her grand-daughters birthday.

My sister and I did manage to visit her outdoors with distancing and PPE twice in the summer but sadly she passed away on 3 November (not Covid related thankfully).

Maybe for a 98 year old immediate quality of life is more important than prolongation. :?

If I was 83 and was fully vaccinated then I would 100% be spending time with my Grandchildren and I wouldn't feel guilty for it one bit- it wound't be up for debate.

I would tell them all that we know the risks, lets make our own decision for ourselves. I wouldn't be sat around waiting for a politician to tell me when it's safe to do so.

I wouldn't be sat in a garden exposed to the elements, The £60 fine or what ever it is would just be chalked off as the price of doing business.

I am off to the gym later to lift weights and run on a treadmill (mask-less) for about an hour next to unvaccinated and vaccinated people but when my Dad comes over this weekend (not seen him now for 8 months) he isn't allowed in my house but must sit in the garden?

I guess he will have to pee behind the shed. Or perhaps he can walk down to the local pub and use their toilet (as it must be safer than coming inside my house to use mine).

My big concern here is the erosion of liberty and freedom in the guise of safety and health. These unbelievably Orwellian powers that the government has endowed itself with are horrifying and when looked at in the wider context with "hate crime" laws that prohibit dissent and infact criminalise it I have serious concerns about where this is leading. Right now it might not seem all that bad but the problem isnt with where we are now with the people that are currently in charge but what happens further down the line when others who may be more willing to fully flex the powers that they have now been gifted.

I mean FFS look at this...

Have either of you two fellas expressed your fears or opinions to your parliamentary representatives?

Yes, I can only hope that others are doing the same

And their reply was?
Perhaps posting that reply might be more beneficial to your campaign than your video referring British Police as Covid Gestapo!

Silence to date :idunno: but as a realist, my MP and his party has about as much power and sway in the UK parliament as I do, so I cant and dont expect much.

Obviously the video used hyperbolic language but, do you condone the police smashing in someone's door, invading their property and arresting them because they arent at an approved hotel?

Nobody knows the facts leading up to that arrest - I’m sure they would not have used the big Red key without reason -
Posting a Gestapo link does nothing for you campaign.

I would suggest you write to your MP again - In my experience they always respond even if with a sorry but !

Posts on a car forum will have no effect whatsoever.

Funny thats exactly what I thought, right up until the female cop stated the reason for arrest :headbang:

Not sure what campaign it is youre referring to? :?

I am sure you could probably reply to most posts in the "lounge" with this reply Ronk.

I agree - But this is beyond an auto v manual / Coupe v Roadster debate

On this subject we are in a Position where we can challenge our government / MP - but most won’t do that.

Thats the whole purpose of the "Lounge" area of the forum though :idunno:
Discuss things non car related, wouldnt make much sense debating Z4 coupe vs Z4 1/2 here (mainly because its not a debate, the answer is the coupe is, demonstrably, superior :P )

Even you pair of pensmiths couldn’t get that topic to 145 pages.

Well, it looks like what I and others were concerned about has begun to happen, the antibody (protection) levels in those that had the Jab first are starting to diminish, that means that the people most at risk are, at the point we are opening back up, losing their protection given by the vaccine.

Additionally and also related, exactly what I was also saying in terms of the longevity of the vaccine is also now looking like its less than 6months
SAUCE 2

Furthermore there are now concerns that in addition to the Astra Zenica both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines also appear to cause blood clots at a similar level (a minuscule level BUT this is the issue of pushing something through testing, problems appear afterwards)
