The person who’s been vaccinated would use their intelligence & also be wearing ppe, as they know that if they were to be unlucky enough to get infected they’d have a far greater chance of survival. Simples

so front line staff are more at risk of catching it......hmm.... so with full ppe, sanitizing everything etc etc they are at more risk at catching it? that cloth face mask you bought off amazon aint gonna do much good then.

Sorry, but this is not logical nor correct. the risk for the front line staff is still great, the risk is mitigated by the use of ppe etc but it is still great - because the the presence of the virus is ever there and the contact is always there - one slip up and the chance of getting it is large. on the flip side, the flimsy mask we wear in the supermarket mitigates the risk of catching the virus, it may be a relatively poor means of protection but the risk is lower than for front line staff so it is equally mitigated.

This.

Interestingly we should now be double bagging or even triple bagging apparently :idunno:

Christ. I really thought you were joking there.... You literally can't make this up.

Imagine if someone told us last year that a disease is going to come along with a >99% survival rate across all ages (and we will record the deaths very inaccuracy in the favour of high numbers) but 90% of the deaths will come from the over 60 and the immune compromised.

And then went on to say that I will have all my rights as a human being taken away, my business destroyed, I won't see my family for a year, shall be kept prisoner in my own home, the economy will crash, youth unemployment will rocket and low earners of my generation will suffer for the next 15-20 years.

Then you tell me that Big Pharma are going to make millions out of a vaccine, but then you are still going to have to social distance, wear masks, not see anyone (so really nothing will really change for me).

And then as a final straw you want to shove a swab up your arse to test for a virus that I have a 1/3 chance of showing no symptoms for?

I literally would have told you to put down the crack pipe in early 2020. After a year of this tosh I am more likely to say pass it over (the crack pipe not the swab)....

****Disclaimer, I am just trying to make light of the whole situation. It is very bizarre and all life is precious.*****

I suppose we should define who are the "front line line staff". Anyone to do with Covid I guess. So not, say, a nurse on non covid ward who has no contact with covid patients.

Making sense of all this world wide s**tshow is easier than getting China to be as helpful as possible to investigators or make any sort of long term plan to contribute in some way....they are frickin’ unbelievable....

You missed the part about this extremely deadly virus that requires a test to see if you have it or not :)

I agree- ask the Chinese Government to do anything to help the Western World (that doesn't benefit them at the detriment of said Western World)? Good luck with that!

I am super confused with it all and how they are where they are right now and how their next year looks:

"China will be the only one of the world’s biggest economies that did not shrink last year." = Madness.

I get no one will point the finger as we all need them too much but you’d think they’d have enough empathy....even for China....to make some sort of statement at least no...?

China will always be China but as a minimum you would at least hope for transparency with the data.

I get it we are all competing with each other in an ideology and business perspective but we are (as far as I am aware) all part of team "human".

The factory that produces the vaccine in Wrexham had a suspected package delivered this morning. The bomb squad have arrived on site and the area has been evacuated.I just hope it’s not some lunatic fringe trying to halt production. :headbang:

We have a JTF superstore on the industrial estate where I work. We’d run out of toilet rolls and need washing up liquid, etc, so I went there this afternoon

I couldn’t believe the amount of over 65’s in there, wandering about. I would say 95% of the people in there were oap’s. Buying garden stuff, looking at sofas, etc. I couldn’t believe my eyes.

So I decided to take a detour on the way home, through the local town, just to see how busy it was.

Yep, you guessed it, oap’s going about their normal lives, coming out of the pound shop, b&m bargains etc etc.

It wasn’t as busy as usual but certainly far busier than I had imagined.

So on the way home to my wife, who is working from home, trying to homeschool my daughter and rarely leaves the house and my daughter, who has barely been out since Christmas, I wonder wether the people spreading the virus to the vulnerable are the very people we are supposedly trying to protect.

As an pair of over 70 oldies I can say that we have observed the restriction religiously - but when we have driven out for medical reasons and our weekly Tesco click n collect have never ceased to be amazed how full the car parks at the retail parks are and the volume of traffic .

On the plus side today, we got the call from our doctors to book us both in for our jab,
It will give us a potential degree of freedom but I don’t feel it’s correct to ignore the current regime - I’ll have my jab but nothing will change in this household!

Hope it didn’t come across I was suggesting all those in the at risk category (or close to it), we’re flouting the rules.

I had assumed my routine of being either in the house or at work, Groundhog Day routine, was the norm.

It astounded me that for many, it obviously isn’t. Particularly those in the at risk categories.

It really does seem that the minority who have “the rules don’t apply to me”, attitude, are the ones screwing it up for the rest of us.

Let’s just hope the vaccine really does bring some normality sooner rather than later as I don’t think people are going to put up with this for much longer

Maybe it's the same person that blew up the Hydroxychloroquine plant in Taiwan?
