The E89 Alpine ("recession") white club

I think white just suits the E89, and we wanted it before we realised it was a zero cost option (so that made our mind up :D ). Like all cars, some colours suit better than others and I think white isn't good on most non 'sporty' cars. My pet hate is silver, and I've had two of them, including my Z4MC!

I hate titanium silver on the one series! Who ever picked that colour should be shot!

Shoot me now!!! My 1st 1'er was silver, my wife's is silver...although thats going soon! So we'll have a white 1'er and a white Z4!

I knew you did Kevin, hence why I got you to change to a Z4! I am trying to rid the world of that awful colour!

I'm gunna start a book on how long it will take before white looks naff in everyone's eyes. It's a fad colour & will drop out of favour as quickly as it came in. I give it 4 years and sales of while cars will be insignificant again.

It happened last time, but then that's cos second hand white cars showed up rust so resell values were awful. That shouldn't be a problem these days!

Also I think that as police have started to use silver cars (for resale value...) and more vans are being wrapped, the stigma of white being the base colour is being removed - so the market starts to binge on this newly socially acceptable colour, the market floods and eventually it drops back out of favour.

I think just about every Audi sold in Oz for the last 2 years is painted white...!!!

Sent from my iPad
32% of all cars sold in the USA last year were white. But there are signs that reds and blues (4&5th) are eating away at black and silver (2nd&3rd).

KInda agree with that, problem is with white it reminds me of police cars of old and milk floats :)

You have too remember all original sports cars were produced in silver going right back to the 30s and 40s. it was seen as the colour of speed, silver arrow and all the rest of it and then red became popular in the 50s and 60s.

Only colour I would have over silver is bluewater, was a stunning colour on the 1er.

Have to admit the Z4 does look cute in white but more a colour for the ladies me thinks :)

Tim.

I think the silver arrows et all started by simply lacquering the ally body panels...

Your correct, I would go for that on the Z4, would look stunning in aluminium 8)

It's common with all cars it seems though, that with the exception of a few really bright colours I feel like people are picking more and more colourless cars. Very bland whites, greys, silvers, blacks or things like a hint of blue that's been dropped in a vat of silver.

I wouldnt say White is a bland colour however it depends on what colour of interior you get. White Exterior with Red Interior is stunning! I always fancied it in the 1 series!

Sorry bland is probably the wrong word - I was trying to express the fact that most 'colours' seem to be almost monotone :) I'd agree that there are some spectacular looking cars that are white/silver/black etc.

I never thought this topic would be so controversial and provide so much banter. Loving it

yeah i feel that white is a more a lack of colour than being an actual colour..... i would of opted for red had it not been metallic on mine but white does show off the lines more
