The 30 kilometer long road from Sirdal to Lysebotn on the west coast of Norway is a good candidate for one of the best Z4 roads in Europe. Due to the building of power stations, the power company wanted easy access and built the road. It’s now a regular road for everybody. It's mostly a one lane road and consists of nearly 30 hairpin curves together with a tunnel winding 340 degrees in the climb from sea level to approximately 800 meters.

The road seen from the cafe Øygardstøl
I drove the road with the top down this summer, and it was magnificent. On the way down I had to take it easy because of traffic. On the way up there was fortunately no traffic, and I had a very nice time with DCS turned off. When I came to the top, I parked at the café Øygardsstøl (also called “Eagle's Nest”). The back tires were smoking hot and the whole car smelled of burned rubber and clutch. This trip can really be recommended.
And if you like hiking, the area have lot of attractions. From the café, it's possible to walk to the "Kjerag bolt". Standing on this bolt is a memory for life.
On the other side of the Lysefjord, it's possible to walk up to "Preikestolen" (pulpit rock), a cliff 1000 meters above the fjord.
I'm living relatively close to the road, so I'm planning to drive the road once more later this year when all the tourists are gone
