slightly off topic,

I was just looking at the gallery a the question occured to me, is there an annual competion - should all the monthly winners be submitted to an annual vote?

cracking idea!!!

When voting what are people looking for, how well and how long do you study the pictures etc

Personally i have a very quick look, I scroll down through the pictures making any mental note of the 1's that stand out, I then have another quick look at those that stood out on my first scan, it takes me less than 2 or 3 minutes to pick my winner

I look for overall composition, location of the shot, sharpness of image and focus. There are some cracking photos and a couple are amazing!

dannyd gets my vote this month = love the astmosphere!

Thanks imp75 - had a load more and it was a struggle to decide which one to enter but plumped for that one with no editing applied as shot and uploaded the same night before setting off to the IOM the next day. Got some excellent shots here that I'll upload. Fantastic scenery.

tbh, I'd like to see more action shots. As good as a number of the entries are, (and they are v/good indeed) very few give an indication of the prowess of this model. i.e. majority are static....Z in front of scrap yard.......z in front of barn.........z in front of nuclear plant..............z with front wheel turned in or out....etc. Can we have more action? i,e like jackers excellent action shot? pan shots etc.

OK shoot me! ah, that's better

Well to be fair every photo has to have a background. Personally I think there is a lot of skill or "eye" in choosing the right background and setting up the composition accordingly/capturing the right light/mood. If were going to do action shots and follow the comp rules more equipment/risk is required. But I here what u say so shall acquire a remote shutter release and have a crack.

the rules say the shot as to be done by yourself and not many of us have the equipement to take a shot as we drive past

Hi dannyd, it's a hahnel wireless remote. Less than 60 quid. Look on web for your camera compatBiliyy, works a treat. Cheers

a few serious photos there but otherwise some more average entries. When I looked at the previous winners I did not dare enter but now...

Richard bang. Composition, atmosphere, the lot, great. Jackers42 special mention, seriously cool. 8)

Congrats to Richardang. Winner!

All in all, some v/nice work done.

I was surprised mine garnered as many as 5 votes because it didn't feature at all in the comments section. Mind you, if we had had AV.............! I could have been a winner :D
