The April 2011 Photo Competition - COMMENTS

Great first entry love that road when its empty and your pic tells a story i can imasgine jumping in to your Z turning round and blasting off down that road to the nice drops and turns :D

I probably ended taking between 200-300 shots and choosing one where the road was smoothest and no camera shake. The tripod was set up in the car with the boom arm out of the window and down low - I was then able to use the self timer and autobracketing to get the shutter speed right. I found that a fifteenth or thirtieth of a second was a good compromise to get blur of the ground but fairly steady camera.

I've seen these suction grips that bolt the camera to the outside of the car but even just thinking of doing that makes me nervous!

Thank you, Breaker. It's quite scary sticking an SLR camera out of the window and low down on the end of a tripod!

When we did cruises to Italy and again to the Isle of Mann, we used those suction camera mounts.

I had a interior one that never fell off, and two guys had exterior ones that were solid as a rock. You have to show some trust in the technology though. lol

Love the first shot with the wide panoramic view.

Also really like playtastics. That E92 M3 looks beautful. Where was it taken?

Bimmerboy - Love the way the shades of the background are very similar to the car. Great pic!

Breaker - How did you get the gubbings in the wings etc? Is the underlying image from a brochure perhaps? Very well done!

Thanks.

Took 2 images with camera on a tripod. One with bonnet open, one with bonnet closed. I HDR'd the bonnet open pic then pulled it through the bonnet closed pic in layers in PS. Other stuff just using layers in PS. :)

Great entries this month as usual, but jackers42 and Richardang's could each have won any of the monthly competitions in the last year IMO - superb photography

slightly off topic,

I was just looking at the gallery a the question occured to me, is there an annual competion - should all the monthly winners be submitted to an annual vote?
