Sounds epic too - clever in terms of pitching as its left room for a boxter equivilant below it . The interior is a Real stand out has taken the technology from the new range rover and placed it in a sports car.

The interiors of the modern Jags are awesome.. Jag has always done a good jon of interiors IMO but the last few years they've taken it to a new level. Makes the pre e89 Z4 seem pretty poor :?

- agreed

When I first looked at switching from a Series of VAG cars to a LR product five years ago I was disappointed by the interior but the reverse is now true - MY 10 landies improved things a lot but the f-type and new RR/RRS have gone a step further as you say. My current JLR daily has been pretty good on the reliability front too.

Photographs really don't do the design justice imho. Seen a couple about since launch, and they look stunning in the tin, more so in motion.

Pretty sure these will be a success for JLR, and would be high on my list of viable alternatives for my Z4MR.

That reds different, was definitely a metallic crimson colour - perhaps an option for the Italian market?

Got a bad pic ....

Truly amazing car. Had the opportunity to drive the V6 twice and V8 once. V6 supercharged is the one for me on price and performance balance, although I can't afford any of them. Sound of both is epic with manual override to open the exhausts. Looks to die for and a real quality cabin. Rear is a real cool look.

Negatives are of course price that is too high, although they have sold every car for the next year...boot space is tiny and gold tipped switches and detail doesn't work.

Also had a 30 min chat to Ian C about his car and design. Real eye opener....

Funnily enough the interior quality (particularly the switch gear) was criticised a little in the full Autocar road test. "the cockpit isn't without one or two quality question marks - the dials flex a little on their mountings, the indicator stalks feel cheap and some of the materials aren't finished in a manner consistent with the F-Type's pricing". In fairness though they did also say "but the overall impression is one of stylish, luxurious and convincing substance".

The V8S performance was good but not as good as I thought it would be. It would struggle to keep up with an F10 M5 for example (which is cheaper I think). It needs to go on a diet. Perhaps an RS version will fix that. The V6s is 1 second slower to 100mph than a Z4MR/C (and slower than a Boxster too).

I appreciate why people like this car but I always think Ian C's designs hark too far back into the past for my taste. Too rounded and "classic", too play-it-safe and not enough modern and angular and exciting. He tried modern with the XJ and it is horrid, hideous. Look at a Lamborghini Gallardo - ten years old at least and it still looks more modern and exciting to my eyes than this does. Same with the 458 Italia - very modern but a real stunner too. But it is subjective opinion-based debate this, not a factual one.

It's a good addition to the market though and I'll be interested to see how it does once the initial hype has settled down.

Ian stated that the entire design and proportions come from the desire to have a V8. Thought that was interesting comment. He's dramatically changed the design language from Jags of old to new Jags and that's a brave move.

Agree the XJ is not a good looker. Trouble is they can sell all they can make to China so guess that makes it a success. Took the 500hp ultimate out 3 weeks ago and it's and impressive piece if kit. Just sooo quick and comfortable. Not for me though.

Being picky, but looking back that plate needs mounted further down. Sorry, no contribution whatsoever to the automotive discussion above
