Funnily enough the interior quality (particularly the switch gear) was criticised a little in the full Autocar road test. "the cockpit isn't without one or two quality question marks - the dials flex a little on their mountings, the indicator stalks feel cheap and some of the materials aren't finished in a manner consistent with the F-Type's pricing". In fairness though they did also say "but the overall impression is one of stylish, luxurious and convincing substance".
The V8S performance was good but not as good as I thought it would be. It would struggle to keep up with an F10 M5 for example (which is cheaper I think). It needs to go on a diet. Perhaps an RS version will fix that. The V6s is 1 second slower to 100mph than a Z4MR/C (and slower than a Boxster too).
I appreciate why people like this car but I always think Ian C's designs hark too far back into the past for my taste. Too rounded and "classic", too play-it-safe and not enough modern and angular and exciting. He tried modern with the XJ and it is horrid, hideous. Look at a Lamborghini Gallardo - ten years old at least and it still looks more modern and exciting to my eyes than this does. Same with the 458 Italia - very modern but a real stunner too. But it is subjective opinion-based debate this, not a factual one.
It's a good addition to the market though and I'll be interested to see how it does once the initial hype has settled down.
