Wow, I just saw this. Glad your ok. Don't let this deter you from sports cars though. Like the bikers do, get back on an ride.

I get the impression he'll still get a fast car (if the insurance pays out) he'll just try something different.

Maybe we should take some bets on whats next...
M5 or M3?
350Z?
Skyline?

The shock doesn't sound good, maybe some intrusion into the car that was inches away from being a lot worse. It looks like it hit the tree with a lot of force.

Glad to hear your ok. Good luck with whatever you are doing about claiming, i hope that it works out ok for you.

*OUCH*! Sorry to hear about your car, but thankfully you are ok! While you may not have broken any bones, no doubt your heart is broken. :( I'll be curious what you decide to replace your baby with, post pics and keep us posted. Good luck! :)

Damn. I'm glad you're ok and I'm damned impressed with that Z. The frame around the windshield/A pillar took a beating, but it held up. The strut tower poked through, but it didn't come back through the passenger compartment (which looks pretty intact for the beating it took). The airbags didn't deploy??? At least the driver's seems to be intact. Did the side bags deploy?

A car not engineered like the Zed might have ended much worse for you.

Plowy, those pics confirm how lucky you are, not many useable parts looking at it.

Notice the knee pad fell of the centre console on passanger side, took me ages to get mine off, but your method is a bit extreme.

Good luck and hope you get paid out quickly.

plowy, amazing you got out relatively unscathed, what a testament to the strength of the A pillars

Couple of things though - you're running too much positive camber on the front, and you've left your lights on :D

You really are one lucky chap, but I suspect you know that. Makes you think, makes us all think. Lucky you were in a modern car, though I suspect it'll haunt you for quite while. I don't remember mine so happily drive spors cars, albeit with more circumspection (and fewer passengers  ). Hope it doesn't put you off for ever, there's a lot of pleasure to be had driving them.

All the best

N

Wow, very little left thats salavagble from that car, you certainly don't do things by halves. It's certainly a sobering collection of images.
I'll be keeping Fridays driving for stricktly on the track.

The inner door handles would be of interest to me, if they're in good condition

OMG... :o
Why didnt the airbag react?

There was no front impact (front of the car is still ok) so the front airbag would have done nothing. It looks like the driver side (right) curtain deployed as that side looks more damaged than the passenger. Was that the side it first impacted when rolling, or that's where it landed? Which way did the car roll, if I may ask?

It would actually be interested to know whether the airbag module is still functioning and ready to act at this point... I think Shipkiller knows a lot about airbags so he might be able to comment.
