Motto, good news about the wife (seeing as you would buy one anyway!), I think you're doing the right thing by waiting, and if you can get to Xmas without the car then I would be certain that there are going to be some January bargains, because let's face it, who buys a car in January? Not many people.

Will keep my eyes peeled for you :)

Agree with Mike wait till you get the car you want i started looking seriously end of Sept 2007 bought my car mid Jan 2008 was starting to worry would not get what i wanted but boy was i wrong found the model the year 2004 the colour and wheels i wanted plus M.Sport heated seats CD stack system + other options on top and only one owner with 11.5k on the clock :D :D

That car you looked at seems very good price to me but i am looking at London prices

Cheers mate, you know what I'm after!

Not sure I'll be able to wait a month though as I sell my car tomorrow and we really need two cars.

And your right, may well have bought one anyway!! :D

There aren't actually many good 3.0i's out there at the moment..........typical

There's 5 pages of 3.0 on the BMW UK site. Maybe not all in the price range.

I spent 3 months waiting to get the Audi S3 when I got shot of the Z4.

Why not get a wee banger for the next month or so, wait until mid - end January and they'll be biting your hand off!

yeh I mean around my price range up to £12k (so I can come down to 10k ish).

Might do that, last couple of times I've waited for a car I've bought a banger first - I've been waiting 4 months already so might wait a bit longer.......!

8) Motto, great position to be in really as we know it's a buyers market. Stick to what you are looking for and don't be afraid to haggle, remember it's not what you say it's how to say it.Look them straight in the eye when you deliver the low bid, it's great to see their faces drop! :P Also remember no matter when you decide to buy a car, there will always be a slightly better or cheaper car around the corner as it's always the case. If you like the car and are happy with the price then buy it and enjoy it, don't carry on looking at the prices!!

While theyre a good buy for you newbies, personally, I'm feeling sick as to how cheap these cars are now. Knew I should have pushed the boat out a bit further and got a Boxster.

yeh, the right car will turn up.I don't know I must be growing up or something because a few years ago I would have gone right out and bought that car from Jaguar!

Ok new question, anyone out there got a £200 banger!!

:o There's one in Swindon exactly the same!!

I just spotted this one on autotrader.
Not a 3.0 but has the sports suspension and red M seats, seems a decent spec overall. Although a little confusing that it has the sporty goodies but only the 2.2l engine... was it possible to spec a car like this in 2004?

Waaaaahooooo!! That's the Volvo sold!! I now have cash in hand and ready to buy my Z!! :D :driving:

Pah a 2.2i only going for the 3.0i mate, nout else will do!

Can't wait to be a member of this forum and actually own a Z!!

Wondermike - I need your advice (and anyone else who can be bothered listening for that matter). Ok trouble is I'm getting itchy feet again, I want a Z and I want it now! The Z at Jaguar is the lowest price I've been able to get and has low mileage excellent service history and looks (and have been told) is mint. If I can get this for £10k surley this is a bargain price - ok it doesn't have heated seats and a carver sound system but it's only £10k i.e. my budget! and comes with a year warranty.

My question is - if I can bag this for £10k and buy AL's ellipsoids then I'll have everything I want minus heated seats (sound & cruise would have been nice but prefer a basically excellent car) - should I go for it?!

Second question is to anyone who has fitted after market heated seats, any advice/cost?

Cheers guys.

As a mate of mine says.... Cool yer jets Big Man!

Hold out for the Heated Seats, Sound System etc.

The right car will come as you'll only regret not getting the heated seats.

HONEST!

Wait until the first crisp January day, roof off and warm arse! You'll thank us all!!!

Don't get a roadster without heated seats. That's like buying a new house without a roof or something equally bizarre!

Please don't buy that Z4, it's such a basic spec, you'll really struggle to sell it on in the future and never be quite happy with it whilst you own it. There will always be that nagging feeling that you should have waited for a better example.

Surely another months wait will help you raise a little more cash too, increasing the number of potential cars in budget.

Hmm have to agree with the others here, just been having a quick browse and there doesn't seem to be too much around at the right price.

The one at the Jag dealer is currently £10,250 plus the wheels plus getting there and back, and then you haven't seen the condition of it. I bet at 30k it will still be on the original tyres, which might need replacing, the aftermarket warranty won't be as good as BMW, lack of spec.

The one you've already looked at (Douglas Park?) is still a much better bet, not only will those options enhance your enjoyment of the car but will make it far easier to sell on when you want to - Carver, xenons, heated seats, cruise, ellipsoids, PDC - it's a nice car. And you'll be able to extend the BMW warranty if you want to as well, another consideration.

If the silver one was such a good deal it would be gone already

If the one at Douglas park is still there in 3-4 weeks time, go and offer them £10,500 for it, just before Xmas, pretty certain they'd take it just to get rid off it.

I'm all with wondermike on this one!

They're great cars (almost as good as the Audi S3 I have now but not as quick) but wait until the right car comes along. FBMWSH etc!!!

Ok ok - I'll wait! But it was free delivery anywhere in the UK!

Been in talks with BMW about the one in Glasgow and they said they'd call me if "anything changes" - whatever that means but I'm hoping it means with this weekend being the end of the month that if they don't sell it - I might get it!

One thing about the car though was that I don't think the sound system was a Carver - the guy hummed a little when I asked, he said oh I think its just an upgrade model not Carver - but it said Carver on the advert AND on their computer screen when we looked at the spec. It certainly didn't sound that impressive.
