Test drive is booked D-Day approaches!

Boll*cks - didn't realise heated seats were an option on the 3.0i SE?! Don't think this car has them, not a great deal of options actually but then again the 3.0i has most of what I'm after as standard anyway..

Anyone know if heated seats can be added at any time and approx how much? Cheers.

Motto, there is a retrofit kit available, you might be worth PM'ing jc10jeeper as he has a lot of experience in taking apart the seats.

IMHO it will be easier and cheaper to find another car though :(

Guys I agree they would have been my first choice too but this deal is too good to miss, if I may..........

Silver, superb nick, 3.0i, 30,000 miles, FSH (last one only a few months and miles ago), year MOT, 1 year warranty, leather obviously - now the good bit - I've managed to get them down to £10,250 from £12,000.

This must be a good deal - it's also from a main dealer (not BMW but major manufacturer) and they only want £100 deposit to get it.

Going to the other test drive tomorrow - (then again this is good amunition to lower the price at BMW tomorrow too!) to see if the wife can drive it (she better!!) then will put the deposit down tomorrow afternoon.

P.S. All 3.0i SE's have elec seats?

Her'e the Parkers Prices for...

Z4 3.0 Manual Gearbox

Original Price £30,855
Franchised Dealer £10,715
Independent Dealer £10,410
Private Good £9,590
Private Poor £8,520
Part Exchange £8,980

It's a buyers market!!!

I'd walk away from both of them and wait until next weekend. End of the month, targets not met!

You'll get an even better deal.

Skelters right - go early afternoon last day of the month - those sales targets are key to them.....sit tight and haggle hard

Best times to buy anything are (in order of potential discount)

End of Fiscal year
End of Quarter
End of Month

Yes.

I'd tend to agree with the others, although it does sound a pretty good deal at that, depends how long you want to wait I suppose.

I've waited 4 months already and I'm going to be without a car from Sunday but I can wait longer.

Maybe you guys are right, starting to see some others coming down too. But WHAT about those parkers prices?! They must have dropped recently because they were a lot higher than that not long ago.

The other thing about it is it was registered on 30/12/03 so its essentially a 2004- do you think this makes any difference? Would you recommend going for it knowing this?

The other thing is people are saying javarke's car would fetch £11,000 and it is a lovely car but this is private and I would be getting the same car maybe a few months older without the wheels and a couple of toys (would only miss the heated seats) for around £800 cheaper from a Jaguar franchise and with a warranty??

your budget is tight but there are more coming into that price range all the time.

Wait for one with the spec you want. Heated seats, good wheels, etc. You've waited 4 months, whats a week or two more?

Suppose you are right, I do tend to get a bit excited and go for it.

The car I'm test driving tomorrow is from BMW- grey, ellipsoid alloys and all the toys and 37,000 miles advertised at £12,950 - if I got this at the price above would you guys think that was a good price? It has everything I want.

These are the prices for the 53 plate (i.e. the one I can get for £10,250 as it's registered on 30/12/03):

Original Price £30,855
Franchised Dealer £11,395
Independent Dealer £11,070
Private Good £10,200
Private Poor £9,060
Part Exchange £9,550

Which reads a lot better??

The price is good, the only thing that may happen is private sellers in January will reduce their prices to something realistic, once they see that their car is not selling at all (as you've seen the traders are starting to do this, just to shift the cars on).

I don't think that the registration year will make much difference by the time you come to sell it, I presume you'll be keeping it for a few years and its mielage and condition will be far more important than a technicality like that.

Without keeping going back to the heated seats, I do think you instantly reduce your potential market by 50% by not having them, plus it may spoil your use of the car too - there are plenty cracking winter days to get the roof down but it's far more pleasurable with heated seats, and if you take the Mrs with you then it might mean the difference between having the roof up or down.

Why, for the sake of a few hundred quid, people don't spec them in the first place I have no idea :scratchhead:

Yeh don't know, I mean the heated seats are only £250 option.

Wonder what BMW would charge for fitting?

This is the one I'm off to see tomorrow but unfortunately there are no pics:

I'm not sure what to do for the best, off to trawl Autotrader again!!

Totally agree with Mike - with the heated seats you can have top down on Dec/Jan clear day - and well you must  - the other options I think are imperitive and help resale value are nice 18" OEM wheels (108's are sooo cool) and the carver stereo upgrade (its amazing sound, std system will struggle if you have roof down).

Marc

Yep the spec on that one is very nice with the xenon, carver, etc and I'm sure if you could do the deal at just over £10k on that it would be a bargain, but whether or not they will come down that much is another thing, 10,300 would be 20% off the asking price, but you never know.

Try your luck tomorrow, and at least once you've seen it, even if you can't strike a deal on it tomorrow, at least you'll be able to deal over the phone afterwards.

Cheers, will let you know how I get on....

P.S. here is the car I've been on about, can you tell if it has heated seats or not? Can you guys let me know what you think of it for the money??

The higher spec one at the BMW dealership looks like the one to go for. You should be able to knock something off their price.

The low spec one does really look to be poverty spec and not worth bothering with. No heated seats, no xenon lights, no 18" alloys, no sat nav, no multi function steering wheel, I think the original buyer had a fear of the options list

Ok just back from the test drive, very nice car.

managed to get them down to £11,500 which I admit is very good but I just don't have the money.

Really liked the drive hitting 5 to 6 thousand revs is awsome -but even better the wife loved it!! and can drive it no problem.

I'm remaining calm though, not going for the car at Jaguar, going to byed my time and get something with a high spec now I know cars are dropping even faster, at around £10k.

Thanks for all the advice.

Motto, good news about the wife (seeing as you would buy one anyway!), I think you're doing the right thing by waiting, and if you can get to Xmas without the car then I would be certain that there are going to be some January bargains, because let's face it, who buys a car in January? Not many people.

Will keep my eyes peeled for you :)
