Is anyone running their M on Tesco Momentum99 ? if so how do you find it,
using Sainsbury's 97 at the moment but the car misses and jumps about from cold for the first
mile or so :( , would like to know if you think changing to Tesco's will help :? Cheers :driving:

I use Tesco M and mine is jumpy first thing so don't think it will get better. Might try V-power and see if there is a difference that Daffy has noted

I use the Tesco Momentum whenever I can get it and prefer it to V-Power which I think exacerbates the occasional kangarooing the car can suffer from.

I filled up the first tankful with Tesco momentum after buying the car and the emissions light came on about 5 miles later, I had done 120 miles previous to that.
I don't think it was the fuel but probably that the dealer had reset it before selling the car... But I have used v power ever since, just in case.

i use tesco m all the time and find it fine,in fact the only time that i put some v-power in the car because a wasn't near a tescos the emmisions light came on i had to replace a lambda sensor :o

BIO fuels - they don't combust as well as conventional fuels & know this from a small notice at the service desk in my AUDI garage mentioning not to use them in their high compression diesels a couple of years back when I was having misfire problems - your average car will run just fine on them, so obviously somewhere something's not quite right.

They were subsequently told to remove it a little while later, but never had misfires myself using 99 Momentum, just feel V Power makes car run smoother, but never risk Supermarket fuel in my A3 anymore...

My car does the same for the first few hundred metres when cold. Quick search of the forum brought up this thread:

So it seems normal for the cars.

I use Tesco 99 and have noticed no problems at all, same when I run V power. The problems only come when I use any lesser grade stuff

It's normal for the car to splutter a bit when cold. It only lasts for a few hundred metres, as said. I normally notice mine when trying to drive smoothly in 3rd.

I have switched from VPower to Tesco 99 for the past 4 tanks (cheaper and to get the clubcard points), mine is running nicely and the rough running when cold seems a characteristic of the engine and short lived.

MPG is averaging 23.5.

I dont use supermarket fuel but use V power.

Over the last 1000 miles I have averaged 26.6mpg and do a lot of town driving.

My last run from Penrith to Chester 260 miles give or take (there and back) gave me 34.3mpg return. Driving at 80 and a lot of overtaking bursts of speed. Love my M, costs me less to run than my old 320Si that returned 28 max on normal unleaded, about the same on V. Winner all round :) I haven't found it thirsty at all so far.

My car does do a little jiggling in the first few hundred metres. But my dad had an E46 M3 and did the same so not too worried. Although the car doesn't start so easily especially in the last week when its been a bit colder (around 4-6deg) takes maybe 5-6 seconds on the key to start up. But always starts, no stalling or juddering like its struggling. I have heard these engines don't like the cold to much but once warm its fine :)

I use V-Power, but when I get the chance I fill up with Tesco 99. Especially after reading this...

After reading a company's report on fuel sold by someone they're sponsored by? Not that I'm suggesting foul play of course. :?

I use Tesco 99 in my Z4M, it loves the stuff. Runs brilliantly on it. :D

Agreed. Don't dismiss it as 'supermarket' fuel without a bit of research.

I've put a couple on tanks of Tesco99 in. It's much cheaper than Vpower around here. However the Z's staple is Vpower. Always used it in my old Fait 20vT. Think I trust the quality of Vpower vs T99. Performance wise the car quick enough on either.

Thank for the input all
If it is just a characteristic of the car to splutter a bit when cold i may just as will
keep on using Sainsbury's 97 @ 1.31 its a good price :D :driving:

Sainsburys 97 is what I'm using too, 2dogs. It's a good price, and arguably just as good, if not better for the car. The most important thing is that the fuel is fresh, which in a supermarket, it always is. Unlike the potatoes we bought from there.
