Maybe you're ready for a change the a new Z4 ticks your boxes, if so: great. But just the look of those two shots in the original post totally turn me off: it looks s**t compared to an MC.

It's a 2007, Silver grey coupe, 75,600 miles, just had an oil service and Inspection 1 not due for 15,500 miles / 2 years,
Eibach springs, Bilstein shocks,
Turner motorsport RTAB limiters,
Vibra-Technics engine mounts,
Sub-Woofer, DICE iPod connection
18" APEX ARC-8 wheels , Eagle F1 AS2 tyres [will be replaced with orignal 224's / tyres for trade-in],
StrongStrut engine strut + Firewall struts [will be removed and replaced with OEM firewall struts for trade-in]

Original order options shown in the attachment.

Tend to agree with the comments above. Private sale should get you more and then puts you in a strong position to get a good deal on the E89.

I prefer the Z4M coupe though, having had both.

I am surprised with that list of mods and mileage the dealer would go anywhere near it. They will probably punt it through the trade hence the not so great deal they have offered you to clear a car that's costing them money.

I think the 35is will become collectable in the coming years
That said there are only about 820 35i registered on howmanyleft compared to nearly a 1000 Z4Ms so the 35i could be collectable too

That 1000 Z4M's will be roughly half coupes and half roadsters which have different markets though.

Back to the the OP; its completely down to what you want from the car.
You're always going to be better off financially selling privately but the trade in offers a quick, less hassle option.

Yeah, I have traded my last few cars simply because selling privately can be such a pita. However, selling via this forum looks like its a lot less painful - I'm sure there's the exception, but from what I've seen that seems to be the case.

I'd take the test drive before anything.

For me though it's a no brainer - test drive, thrash it, pass the keys back and say thank you but no thank you. Your coupe looks great and unique. I wouldn't PE. Just my opinion though.

Personally I think the E89 is a bit of a dog compared to the E86. I wouldnt be switching unless I was seriously considering one anyway. As above financially it never makes sense to spend more money on a new car unless you have a need / must for it.

To me that means that the dealer is valuing your MC at a mere £12k and they will have it on their forecourt a couple of weeks later at £20k. You know your car better than anyone, is it really only worth £12,000 if they say it is such a fine example?

Were you to eventually to go down that route, you need to think furure and the 35iS will also be much easier to sell on than the 35i.

And then there is depreciation, after 2 years the 35i will probably be worth £27k, the 35iS will probably be worth £29k - BUT the MC will almost certainly have gone up in value.

The decision is yours.....

I disagree, many coupes are on forecourst, mine was as was another black coupe at the same dealer at the same time. It all depends on which dealer it is and how many floorspace they have. My local said it would go into the trade as which point they offered me 3k less than I got and I walked out.

Sytner had a 68k Silver one for sale recently for £21k.

I think they'd put 224's on and have it on the forecourt.
They've definitely sold MC's with CSL's and H+R springs as AUC before.

Sounds like a good deal, but I reckon if and when you trade for an E89 you should be looking for a 35is to match the performance your used to. Still, that trade in price for yours is staggering.

The car has a 7-speed double clutch auto box fitted and the sales guy quoted a power output of 340bhp, so maybe it's a 35is rather than the 306bhp 35i - I'll find out when I go in to have a test drive.

If this has already been mentioned then my apologies, the blue example in the 1st post is a 35i .. you can not a IS in this colour

so will be the N55 single turbo engine .. hope this helps

Had my test drive this afternoon and decided to go ahead and buy the 35i as I enjoyed the feel of the car and can't be ar$ed with selling the MC privately.

Thanks for all the contributions and advice folks.

I'm going in to collect the car on Tuesday after I've taken of the APEX wheels and refitted the original 224's / tyres and the complete StrongStrut set and refitted the original firewall struts.

I have enjoyed the MC, but potholes, sleeping policemen and ramps have all been a real pain so I shall enjoy the more relaxed ride as well as all the toys that come with the car .
