Ah, not quite £46k.

We went for the 300h in the end. The spec is as follows :

Engine C 300 h Saloon 34,770 GBP
Design line AMG Line 3,490 GBP
Special model & Packages 3,14 5 GBP
Colour Brilliant Blue Metallic 645 GBP
Wheel 19" AMG Multispoke alloy wheels 595 GBP
Upholstery - Leather 795 GBP
Decorative elements Light longitudinal-grain aluminum trim 0 GBP
Special equipment 1,970 GBP
Total Price (incl. VAT excl. OTR) 45,410 GBP

With Merc you get a lot more standard equipment and the Premium Pack added a lot more.

We were sold that the next car would be a 4 Series Gran Coupe but everything seemed to be an option and the cost of the car was massive in comparison to the Merc and it still had options missing.

Yeh, I was in the same boat, i think the comparative 4-series came out £5-6k more expensive and BMW wouldn't negotiate at all. I think my C220 came out at ~£36k, but dealt at aprox £30k for it. Like you, with the extras you get with the Merc it was a no brainer for me

Gary,

Is this the leather treatment you applied to your C Class? http://www.i4detailing.co.uk/shop/gyeon-q2-leather-coat-400ml.html

If not, can you provide a link to the one you used please.

Many thanks,

Steve.

Yep that's the one.

So there have inevitably been a few niggles, mostly software updates but one thing in particular annoyed me, A pillar wind noise at high speed. The car is so quiet that the wind noise stood out.

So I complained thinking it may be a seal or whatever... I got double glazing as a fix!

Can't complain about the service so far. Car collected and delivered each time, always a nice loaner etc...

Goodness, that's a hefty 'fix' so all the doors have been apart to replace the glass, any tell-tale knarled up screw heads etc to show they've been in bits?

MB must know this is an issue otherwise the resolution wouldn't have been so readily available.

A run out to York at the weekend.. Ended up coming back to my shiny Merc splattered with cement... Paint is scratched and bodywork dented..

... Gutted.

Parked near a new house being built.. Presumably a cement delivery with crappy containment.

I've managed to clean the worst mess and polished out some scratches and now waiting on dent people to see if I can remove the bonnet dents.

Not happy in the slightest.

If it has been splattered with cement & its sat on the car for any time i'd be very concerned at it "burning" the lacquer + paint

Minimal lacquer damage, managed to buff out most of that plus the scratches. Just the dents to remove, hopeful the local dent guy that did the Z4 can work his magic...

Cars are my top passion, aside from my girls, so I'm not the happiest chappy right now.. 5 glasses of southern comfort down tonight...

Doesn't look that bad in the pic, but most of the impact points are also dents...

I could cry, sounds stupid, but I really could. I work so hard for everything I get.

It's not good when something like this happens .
My Disco hadn't got so much as a parking dent then a hail storm of epic proportions hit us!

The car now 30 or 40 large dings !

I'm really sorry to hear about this Maniac. I'd be livid if I'd come back to find this. People just don't have any consideration for other peoples property these days, everything is just disposable or just doesn't matter - a real shame.

Hope you manage to get it sorted and back to how you'd like.

Ah this is interesting... I've noted this as well. Whenever driving along a dual carriageway or motorway you can hear whistling as if the window isnt closed properly or the seal isn't fitted properly.

Other than this, the notchy gearbox, mediocre fuel economy and horrible clattery diesel engine I'm really liking mine so far and two guys have asked me about it at the petrol station.
