Tempted by this... UPDATE: It's home...

My work colleague has just had a new E-Class estate. I think it's an E300 Bluetec (the hybrid thingy for cheap company car tax). For a £40k car, I thought the interior was extremely ordinary. Lots of pretty cheap looking trim detail. I'm not saying it's better or worse than BMW, Audi etc. but given all I've read in the press about Merc interiors I was expecting something fantastic and the reality was it was pretty disappointing.

It is all I have as a taxi when I am in continental Europe, so it feels / looks very taxi-functional to me.

The e class is old now, originally launched in 2009. it's interior is dated. I believe it's due for replacement this year.

This is a C-Class - just for clarification. New model, new interior... We're not talking about an E Class.

I'm really looking forward to my European taxi arriving.

:D

I was not implying that it was a bad car or anything like that by the way, just that I have a fixed association with it.

I know we aren't talking about an E-Class. I must admit that looks a lot better than the £40k car I was in. How much of that is an (expensive) option though?

That's showing a premium plus pack, plus leather and different wood finish in an AMG line model.Lots of extras for the medium extra cost.

I think Burmester can only be ordered as part of a package, the premium plus, which also includes the Command system,, and all the features in the premium pack.

I found the extras very reasonable for the C-Class.

I went for the C220 Bluetec AMG Line with premium plus, so everything you see in the earlier interior pictures.....£30k car (after some negotiation)

No, you can buy it separately.

Looks nice! How are respective owners finding these? I recently read some horror stories about MB reliability :(

there was a swanky CLA shooting brake on display in Waterloo Stn the other week, i couldnt help but stop for a nosey! tempting stuff.. i "need" a practical car! (??)

Really happy with mine. Not the most exciting engine in the world, but then a £30k car, with a 2.0L diesel engine capable of 55mpg is never going to be the world's most dynamic driver.

Very comfortable though, loads of toys and at present (6 months and 5,500 miles in) no problems to report. Build quality seems pretty good

Think ours came out at about £46k with all the bits and packs but I am yet to see one in Brilliant Blue or with the 19" wheels. All the others are either silver or black so far and in 'Sport' guise.

Still looking forward to it arriving as I think our 3 series is starting to look its age now, even though it's only covered 34,000 miles.

Glad to hear that others haven't had any particular issues.

Wow, which engine did you go for? £46k is going some.

Ah, not quite £46k.

We went for the 300h in the end. The spec is as follows :

Engine C 300 h Saloon 34,770 GBP
Design line AMG Line 3,490 GBP
Special model & Packages 3,14 5 GBP
Colour Brilliant Blue Metallic 645 GBP
Wheel 19" AMG Multispoke alloy wheels 595 GBP
Upholstery - Leather 795 GBP
Decorative elements Light longitudinal-grain aluminum trim 0 GBP
Special equipment 1,970 GBP
Total Price (incl. VAT excl. OTR) 45,410 GBP

With Merc you get a lot more standard equipment and the Premium Pack added a lot more.

We were sold that the next car would be a 4 Series Gran Coupe but everything seemed to be an option and the cost of the car was massive in comparison to the Merc and it still had options missing.
